Hi, I'm new to this site and found it while I was looking up information about
Uticaria which I was diagnosed with roughly 7 years ago. I only get hives/welts when I'm cold, or if something cold touches me even if only for a second. I went tanning last week and I broke out in the same type of hives but only on one small section of my lower back and I thought I was having an allergic reaction to something else--could this be linked to the cold uticaria? This incident was what inspired me to search the web last night. I go to an allergist because I have alot of other allergies and they hardly know anything about
Uticaria or how to treat it and none of the allergy medications seem to prevent these breakouts, yet they help my other allergies. I've been to a few doctors about
this but none of them have any idea what to do to help me. I was reading some of the older posts on this page and noticed some mention of thyroiditis and hypothyroidism, and I was borderline hypothyroidism when I went to an Endocrinologist a few years ago. I did not read all of the posts, but is hypothyroidism linked to uticaria or were some of the people on this forum just unlucky enough to have both? And if so, how does hypthyroidism cause uticaria? I can't figure out how it would medically link to uticaria. I'd appreciate any help I could get with this...this condition embarrasses me all the time around people =\ I don't know what to do for it and it seems like doctors have already given up... Thanks for the help!
