asthma acting up

Hello

Since last night I have felt asa though someone is sitting on my chest.  I cannot hear any audible wheezing but I know it is my asthma.  I was wondering if anyone else in New England is having allergy/asthma issues.  I thought maybe some pollens were high but grass is low on the meters and it says all others are at none...I am allergic to grass but this has just started with me.  I am in the process of moving so dust is being kicked around which I am allergic to as well.  Other people at my work have found their allergies acting up just trying to figure out what outdoor contributing factors may be causing this?

I live in the South and have year round asthma and allergies and my asthma is severe.  You can have that internal wheezing that your doctor can hear before you have the wheezing that you will hear.  A lot of times some of my worst asthma attacks that I can't control myself, I don't have any obvious wheezing because I don't have enough air moving in my chest to be able to wheeze and I will have that feeling like something is sitting on my chest.  If you are in the process of moving and dust is floating, that is a real culprit, as you know.

Of course, I don't know how severe your asthma is.  What medications do you take?  It sounds to me like you need to seek treatment now before you end up in an ER.  Do you have a nebulizer?  Do you see an allergist?  Please keep us posted.

I do have a nebulizer but all the albuterol for it is expired, I used my inhaler last night as well as my normal asmanex and singulair. I could hear the wheezing this morning and my eyes were swollen and had some sneezing. I used my peak flow and I am in the caution range or at least was this morning...I have a couple albuterol inhalers one I keep in my purse then the other is at home, that way I am never without one. I also work at a hospital so if things got bad I could just go over to the ER

It sounds like you have the tools to take care of your asthma.  I am glad to hear that.  I would get that Albuterol refilled for your nebulizer, you never know when you might need it when you are not at he hospital.

I think it's just this fall season that's getting us right now.  I finally went and got a steroid shot to break the migraine cycle today.  For the past week I have had to use Imitrex every day, a couple of days I had to use it twice, which is very unusual.  My migraines are triggered by allergies and when they go on that long, it takes a steroid injection to break the cycle.  I've also had bronchitis twice in the past six weeks, which means Prednisone and antibiotics.  I'm getting better.  It's just the time of the year.

Seriously, I would get that Albuterol refilled just to be on the safe side.

I have had a headache since last night from this allergy thing ugh.  I have Crohn's disease so they try to stay away from pred as much as possible with me even with the CD now I had  3 surgeries for the CD this year and it already remanifested itself in me YUK!! the humira I give myself now gives me severe migraines too and I give myself that injection tomorrow.  My asthma and allergies seemed less intense today tho

Funny you mention your asthma suddenly acting up in New England. I am in NE also, and after almost two years of not really having any problems, mine started acting up about a week ago with that feeling of tightness and discomfort in my chest when I breathe. For me, it's the cold air. I have exercise induced anxiety, and my triggers are cold air and high heat/humidity. Maybe the cold air is your issue as well. Mine hasn't been as bad on the warmer days. How about yours?

I was a little disappointed to have to get a new Albuterol prescription after going so long without it though.

You've really been through a lot this year. Can you take anything to relieve the migraines?  My migraines are better since I took the steroid shot the other day.  Mine are triggered by allergies.  When I have them every day for over a week, I go in for a steroid shot which always breaks the cycle.  I think I've been doing that for over 30 years now.

I tipically take relpax for migraines but for now I am trying to stick to tylenol since my Crohn's is flaring. I did get my migraine from my Humira shot yesterday...almost 24 hrs with it now. Also was moving things around at my papa's house today and I ended up needing my inhaler. I did fill my script for my albuterol for the nebulizer, I rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it
