taking prednisone throughout pregnancy

Hi,

I have severe allergies and asthma, and have been on and off prednisone my entire life. I am 27 now and pregnant but due to my frequent asthma flare ups I have been put on prednisone for the third time and I'm only 14 weeks. I usually start at 60mg daily then taper off slowly about 2-4weeks. My question is will this harm my baby? And if so how? My doctor doesn't feel that it will but I would like to hear from someone who has maybe gone through something similar to my situation......

We get a lot of pregnant women on the Uc forum which they use prednisone too for treatment. They have never had any negative affects from the steroid and I do believe that it's perfectly safe to take while being pregnant. As most doc say, it's best to have the mother's health under control in order for the baby to thrive. Did you ask your OB just to be on the safe side? Is that the doc you were referring to?

Yes It was my OB doctor that I spoke to, and thank you so much for the reply. I feel better hearing it from more than just one source!!!!
