Hey Guys!

I was wondering if anyone could help me...

I know there is already a post about eye allergys but I have been seeing an allergists and an opthmolgist (several in fact) about my eye problems and still nothing has come out of it.

My eyes often swelll, are bloodshot and produce a string like mucus. The best way to describe it is I feel like I have pink eye 70% of the time.

I have blurred vision and it is very, very uncomofortable and worst of al it looks just as awful as it feels and when I have reactions I can't go out or have anyone over. This is dificult being as I have a job and am a full time student.

Both my allergist and my opthomoloigist are 100% sure that it is alergies, but still why has nothing worked?

I have had several scratch test and am aware of what environmental allergens I have as well as food and avoid all of them, and still this happens.

I have been on Optivar, Flouromethalone, Patonol, and Pataday eye drops and none of them have worked.

Help!!

Hi and welcome to Healingwell :) I'm so sorry you are going thru this. I've had numerous eye infections in the past as well as allergy eyes so I know how aggravating it can be. So the eye doc was 100% sure it wasn't infection or eye inflammation? Have you ever tried oral allergy meds? I found that for me when I use allergy eye drops that it actually makes my eyes worse and it causes me to have blurry vision. Could you have dry eye in conjunction with allergy eyes? This is what I have and it's not easy. I use otc dry eye drops and it seems to help along with an oral allergy med (Allegra).

Edit - Have you had your tear ducts checked to be sure they're not blocked?

I know this might sound silly but I get the allergic eyes sometimes and they are annoying. This is a big help...find 2 plastic small baggies and fill them with rice. Freeze them and put them on your eyes when you lie down. It is amazingly soothing. Hope this helps a little. Take care of yourself.

Yes, I have checked and my ear ducts are not clogged but I do have dry eye and both my Opthomologist and allergist say that it is due to the dischare from the allergy eyes. It is frustrating because I want to believe perhaps it is somehting else because nothing seems to work but both Dr.'s believe whole heartedly that it is due to allergies. My Opthomolgist put me on systane to help with the dry eye but it only helps soothe, not the redness or discharge.

I am on Xyztal and have been on oral allergy medications seemingly all my life. I have severe allergies in reaction to environmental allergies and a lot of food allergies. I am also getting weekly allergy shots for my environmental allergies.

Also, a problem that may or may not result from the eyes allergies is eczema. I have eczema around my eyes and on my outer lids, as well as a few places on my face and cheeks.

And thanks for the tips, I have been using cold wash rags but using bags seems like a better and sterile idea, I think I will try that. thanks!

Do you use any medications for your eczema such as a weak dose of cortisteroid cream for you eyes? Is your eczema flaring up at this time too?
