well i got a call last night about 1 am telling me momma was at the ER. i jumped up and went. her sugar had droped to 46. they had to give her insulin. she's diabitic. she's back at the home now resting. i know they're not feeding her enough. or she's not eating enough. i'm going to have another meeting with them. thanks for listening. i was so scared last night.

well, my poor momma has been having a bad week. yesterday they had a Mothers Day lunch. momma was in a wheel chair when me and my sister got there. she also had fever. another kidney infection. she was totaly confused. my sister broke down in front of momma and cried. by the time i got my sister home she almost collapased in her yard. her husband took her in and put her to bed. it was a very hard day. momma is getting worse. she's dieing. and there's nothing i can do about it. i'm so sad. thanks for listening.

thank you sweet lyn. there's nothing noone can do. momma goes to a blood doctor monday. it's an hour away. i'm going with her. but wonder if she has to go to the bathroom. i can't get her out of that wheelchair. the man that runs the nursing home is driving her. i'm so scared. it's at a hospital where we have to go. maybe a nurse will help me. i'll let you know how it goes. thanks for listening.

well, momma didn't get to see the doctor that day. they took her to the wrong place. but 2 nurses aids went with her so i didn't have to go. but the good news is momma is back on her walker with help. she's doing really good. except she seems to keep the bladder infection. she's a diabitic. just wanted to let you know prayer works. thanks lyn for listening.

I am thinking being a diabetic and prolly if she is on certain meds that may cause bladder infections as well as yeast infections
The same if you ( nurses or mom) are not wiping after going to potty properly it is from front to back always to help stop co infections from Feces coming if you wipe from back to front
I would ask mom how she does it or see for self ( if possible ) and make sure nurses are doing it right as well
Sometimes they have SO many patients and not alot of time
It is truly sad
I hope she will get better with the bladder probs

Happy to know she is back up on the walker
KUDOS for her a strong woman indeed

well, this past friday they put momma in the hospital. me and my sister were at the nursing home and was changing her, when i found blood in her diaper. they said it had been there the day before. well they took her to the hospital that day. she was already on antibodics for uranary tract infection. well it's worse now. they also had to give her a pint of blood. it was low. i've been staying all day with her and my sister at night. she likes to fiddle with stuff. so we're afraid she'll pull her iv out. i'm already so tired. i think she's getting better. she's not eating much though. and her sugar dropped the other day to 46. it finally came back up. my mind is tired. i will be glad when she gets to go back to the nursing home. and is well. thanks for listening.

well, momma is better. they got the blood thing under control. she's back at the nursing home. i've been sick with worry. tired. maybe i can rest a few days now. thanks lyn for always talking to me.

Now you need to regroup and get self some sleep proper nourishment and so on
Did they at all say what the cause may have been for the blood and blood lose??

Hello Tiny

This is Kitt and I am a friend of Lyn's.  I am checking in to see how your Momma's doing.  I had a Grandmother-in-law who had Alzheimer's Disease.I cannot imagine as a daughter how difficult this is for you but I do empathize with you.

I hope you are getting some well needed rest.  Caregivers have to be sure they take special care of themselves.

If there is anything I can do just email me.  I am here nearly 24/7 so I will get your email quickly.

thank you kitt and lyn for checking on me and momma. well momma has or is trying to stop eating. and she won't take her meds. they have been crushing her meds. up now. i go up there at meal time and try to get her to eat. my sister does to. she just hasn't been eating good for about a month now. this last week has been the worse. and she's a diabtic. so this isn't good. my sister crys alot so i have to be there for her. i cry but not alot. i think my meds. keep me from crying. i'm just sad every day. i hate this disease. thanks for listening.

Dear Tiny,

Thank you for the update on your Momma and I am sorry she is giving up on eating.  That will play havoc with her diabetes.  I am sure they will be watching her blood sugars closely and adjusting her insulin according to her dietary intake.

I understand the tears shed by a daughter.............you both have a right to feel sad.  I am glad you have your sister to lean on and she has you.

Dear Tiny,

I know how you feel. My Daddy has alzheimers disease. We recently had to put him a nursing home. He asks to go home every day and it breaks my heart. I cry alot too. So does my sister. It is a terrible disease.

hi 9ball, i'm so sorry about your Daddy. yes, i hate this disease. are you the oldest? i'm the middle sister. my older sister and me are the only ones that go see Momma. my brother and little sister say they can't handle it. i cry but not as much as my sister. i think it's the meds. i take though that keep me from crying. sometimes i just want to go out in the yard and scream. i'm bipolar and have anixety and depession. i try to be careful not to have a relapse. i had a breakdown 5 years ago. but my meds. keep me stable now. my Momma has had a few good days this past week with her eating. and she has never asked to go home. i know that must break your heart that your Daddy does. i wish i could tell you it all gets better. but you and your Daddy will be in my prayers. thanks for listening.

Hi Tiny,

Yes, I am the oldest. I have a sister and brother. I go to the nursing home every day (I work part time). My sister goes every day that she doesn't work 12 hours. My brother goes every other day. He says that he can't handle it either. I don't like it either but I still go. You never know how somebody is going to react to something. The reason that we had to put Daddy in the nursing home is because he had gallbladder surgery. When he was in the VA hospital, he wanted to go home and they tied him to the bed and he pulled his cathater out 5 times. They had him real doped up too. When we finally got him home, he pulled his cathater out the first night. He wasn't sleeping either. He went for about 2 weeks with about 2 hours sleep. They tried all kinds of medicine that didn't work. Finally the night before he went in the nursing home we tried him on trazadone and it worked. He is sleeping through the night now and he hasn't pulled his cathater out again. For some reason he can't pee on his own anymore. They are going to try to take it out again in 3 weeks and if he can't pee on his own then, I've got to take him back to the Urologist. Where do you live Tiny? I live in Wedowee, Al. I hope that your Mama gets better, and take care of your self too. I know that is a hard thing to do when you are worried about a parent.

hi 9ball, i live in east texas. woodville. it's a little country town. i don't like the city. i can't drive in them anymore or the rain. forgot to tell you i have a few phobies lol. but i work on them. Momma was feeling really good today. just for a minute she said my name (elaine). without me asking her what it is. i think she is in the last stage of AD. they have to do everything for her. i do it when i go see her. she's always so happy. she just laughs. about everything lol. unless she isn't feeling good. she keeps a uranary tract infection. sometimes it gets real bad. then she still trys to be happy. she's never had a mean bone in her body her whole life. i hope your Daddys bladder gets better soon. i know your worried to death. hang in there. i'm glad we have our sisters to lean on. and us for them. oh i'm 47. how old are you?

I live in a small town too. I like to go to big cities sometimes but I would never want to live in one. How long has your Mama had alzheimers? Daddy has had it about 5 years now. His memory is getting worse. I am glad that your Mama is doing good today. We took Daddy outside under a covered porch today about 6pm. when it wasn't so hot (I thought) He like to have passed out. We was just sitting there not doing anything. I guess that I am not going to be able to take him ourside anymore. He loves the outdoors and I hate that he won't be able to go outside untill Fall (when it cools down alot) This disease robs them of everything that they like to do. Yes, I am glad that we have our sisters too. I will be 42 on my birthday in December. Where has the time gone? Just seems like yesterday that I was 17.

hi lyn, thanks for checking on us. hope everything is fine with you. hi 9ball, you know i don't really know how long momma has had AD. it seems like a very long time. she wasn't talking today. just watching tv. but laughing at it. she didn't eat much breakfast either. yes it's very hot outside. i'd like to take momma to the singings they have. but i don't know when they have them. she loves to sing the old church songs. funny she can't remember eating breakfast, but she can sing the songs word for word. i hate this disease. you take care of yourself to. i'll talk soon.
