Have you looked into a condition called Hyperacusis?
Sinus allergies can irritate the inner ear and distort how sound is perceived - I have some first hand experience with this.
Also, might look into Lyme Disease - it can cause hypersensitivity to sounds. Make sure to see a Lyme-Literate doctor for testing, since most non-Lyme-Literate MD's aren't familiar with the shortcommings of the tests. The Lyme Disease forum here at HealingWell has a number of knowledgeable folks to ask if you have further questions about Lyme.
A skilled Homeopathic Physician may also be able to help with this symptom...be aware that some but not all Naturopathic Physicians are skilled with Homeopathics, so be sure to ask specifically about the person's experience with Homeopathic treatment.
Good luck,
