i have anxiety is this a good med i only been on it 2 weeks and try to only take it when i feel the anxiety is too much or as needed up to 3 pills a day .5mg,has anyone had success with this med and any advise would be appreciated

I am interested in this too. I was just prescribed this for a as needed basis.

Hello,   I have been taking Klonopin for about 6 months..   It is a great medication for anxiety/panic...   I can't take any of the ssri drugs they make me sick...  This medication really works better if you take it on a regular basis..   I take .5 twice a day which is the lowest dose..  You build up a level in your system..   Xanax is really a drug that you would take on a as needed basis not Klonopin..   At least that is what my doctor has told me..  I have had no bad reactions with the medication at all..   The only thing is you really can't drink with it...  But it is worth the help with the panic and anxiety..  Good Luck...

AS with all other meds for a/p especially the benzo's it is good to know what works for YOU
Not all have success with the same drugs it would be great...if so wouldnt it .....
While a/p is somewhat the same the meds may not react the same this is why YOUR doc is really the best to work with in finding exactly what will work for you
We can give our experiences and that does help ........appreciate input

I have heard this med works for some ppl but not for all the same is true for valium....
For me I have taken valium for yrs and I take as needed which I was down to nil and then due to circumstances mentioned in other posts am back on them ......they work for ME...klonopin never have tried it ....

I have been on Klonopin for about four years now and my dosage has always been .5mg as needed. I take one everynight to fall asleep and a half in the morning. If I have any major stressors or anxiety I take the other half. Over the years I have noticed that I have developed a dependency, if I do not take my normal 1 1/2-2 pills a day I have serious anxiety and panic attacks.

Here is what I have heard, read and experienced:
Dependency on such a small dose of Klonopin still scares me even though I know it is much easier to become dependent on other benzo's such as Xanx.
It has a longer 1/2 life than xanx.
I never experienced any euphoria as I did when giving Xanx a try.
I do not feel "drugged up" during the day
It does not knock me out to fall asleep (like anti-psychotics) it just makes me more calm.
calmming, thats a good word to describe its effects
I would recommend Klonopin for anxiety and I will continue to take it.

Hey, Bulldog, as Lyn said it's always the best idea to check with your doc about what is right for you..it also doesn't hurt to do a little research (and ask others how they feel about their meds) but please always listen to doc first.

I've not taken klonopin before, but if it has been prescribed, stick with it for now and if it doesn't work try something else (there are a ton of options - trust me!!).  Best of luck and keep us posted

I'm on 4mgs a day and yes it is addictive but if you want to live you've got to make choices.

Hi bulldog,   I personally haven't tried this medication, but have heard that it works well for many people and not so well for others.  Which is the case with any med.  As others have said, most definitely listen to  your doc as you and your doc know what's best for YOU.  But you can also seek out what others have experienced and any tidbits of information - not a bad way to do some research on it because you are hearing first hand how others have reacted to it.  But again, your doctor's word needs to be what you trust the most.   Have you started the medication since it was prescribed?  If so, how are you doing with it?  When you get some time, please let us know - I am curious to hear how you are doing.   Take care, Wen

I see where you get your name  lol.  If you have talked this through with your Dr. then I would give the med a try but that is just my 2 cents for today.

I agree with everything Evelyn has said. I take one .5 at night and one .5 in the morning. My doc said it is longer lasting than the xanax, although it takes longer to kick in. I have xanax prescribed as well on an as needed basis. The xanax can make me feel "drugged up" so I only take with with severe panic attacks. The xanax kicks in faster and is shorter lasting. My CBT has given me great advice on ways to break the cycle of panic. I take one day at a time and see what that day brings. Psychiatrists are good with the medication, but I def. recommend a CBT for "prediction and prevention" as he calls it. Although every one is different...
