Hello and Welcome to HW. This is Kitt.
I have anticipatory anxiety but it waxes and wans. Sometimes it is fine and others the fear is unbearable. I use Valium for it's long acting effects.
The 1st panic episode or symptoms generate anticipatory anxiety for more attacks hightening your sense of vulnerability and chronic stress.
The anticipation of more unpredictable attacks cause you to become hypervigilant about your bodily changes.
The attention is focused on scanning the body for cues that may warn you of the possiblility of another attack.
My first experience with A & P start with a major Panic attack that just struck me out of no where. It scared me and also put me into therapy as I had know idea what happened and why.
As Lyn has pointed out so wisely, therapy is good for gaining control over the anticipatory anxiety. I am glad you are seeing your Phydisian tomorrow.
Keep posting and know we care.
Again a warm welcome
Kitt
