Dear Ben,
After being on a benzo for 24 years prescribed by my own physician, my Pdoc decided it was not good for me.........huh? She said it causes Depression, emotional blunting in long -term benzodiazepine users. Well gee no one noticed for 24 years and now she wants to take them away so we did a very slow weaning process.....took almost a year as I was on large dose.
During all those years I was on it I worked full time and even ended up in managment. Emotional blunting.....I was fine for many years and then every thing crashed.
I did not feel strong at that time, I was lost, and afraid, crying for someone to help me as they all just looked at me and said you need meds, and therapy and less stress in your life.
I did work my way back, but I still feel the failure and humiliation I felt when I was crashing. I try to kick it to the curb but some days I just have to cry.
Do talk to your physician about the med and a slow wean process? It is safer and you will do better.
Keep on walking, one step at a time.
Gentle Hugs
Kitt
