I haven't posted in quite some time.  My anxiety is so much better but now my husband has started.  I always had the heart palpitations, etc.  He is experiencing a sudden hot feeling, almost like a hot flash, followed by nausea.  He has a history of migraines and we can't decide if it's the migraines, anxiety or what.  Anyone else have the hot feelings out of the blue?  TIA

What are the symptoms of a TIA?

It's very important to recognize the warning signs of a TIA or stroke. The usual TIA symptoms are the same as those of stroke, only temporary:

  • Sudden numbness or weakness of the face, arm or leg, especially on one side of the body
  • Sudden confusion, trouble speaking or understanding
  • Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes
  • Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination
  • Sudden, severe headache with no known cause

The short duration of these symptoms and lack of permanent brain injury is the main difference between TIA and stroke. Reference: Mayo Clinic

Anxiety can cause flushed hot feelings out of the blue too. I have had them but only when I am really suddenly panicky.

May I suggest you have your hubby see his physician for a medical check up.

He is being treated by a general practioner and a neurologist.  It's tricky with migraines because a lot of his symptoms would lead you to think he's having TIA  but all his tests are normal.  The neurologist says migraines (for about 10 years).  The hot flashes are the newest thing.

Talk about hot flashes. Many people talk about thier heart beat speeding up at the start of a panic attack. Me it is the sudden hot flash. When I feel it, I know a PA is coming. When I am driving, I open the windows and allow the cool air in. When I am at home or inside somewhere, I excuse myself and walk outside into the cool air. Once I stop the sweat, my anxiety goes down. I however, do not experience any nausea when I experence the sudden sweat. Have your husband talk to his doctor and trust him/her, then you should know for sure what is causing the hot flashes and nausea. When I say trust him/her, it is one of those things of "do as I say, not as I do." I have health anxiety and don't always trust my dr. even though I know I should.

I also get a hot flash and wave of strange feelings in my chest at the onset of panic. . . I know when it happens to just blow it off, but you know how it goes sometimes. One of my biggest issues is Costochondritis of the chest, and that hurts and is flared from anxiety. Anyway, I sure hope your husband is okay, and it is nice to meet you :)

The hot flush is a huge signal for me that a PA is coming as well. i feel the heat from my toes to every hair in my head, its so hot it feels like im being electrocuted. its truly an awful symptom (no its not menopause, im 28! rolleyes )

I also have costochondritis, and have taken steroids for it, but nothing seems to work. I have also "thought" that my costochondritis flared up when I am having a bout of anxiety. But have never been told that anxiety can flare up the chest wall pain. Can you tell me more about your costochondritis and how it "feels" to you and how you know anxiety can flare this thing up.
