Lexapro Brain Zaps

I hate lexapro brain zaps.  Should I talk to the psych about tapering off the med?  I have been on lex for two years and the zaps get steadily worse.

I've never even been depressed.  I just have panic attacks and take Ativan for those.  Lex does nothing to help those.

Any thoughts?

You are a brave woman to go through brain zaps fo 2 years and the med doesn't even work.

I didn't know they were brain zaps til a couple weeks ago. It just feels like my brain is pushed around or something and I just get zapped kinda

sucks lol

iam on lexapro and never had them, atleast i dont think so...

over the last 15yrs ive been on:

1. tofranil

2. effexor

3. aropax

4. prozac

5. zoloft

i get 'brain zaps' with every AD i take. they are horrible and i wouldnt wish them on anyone-

you are not alone, id be asking my doc about changing though if its not working for you- good luck!

yep its like a jolt of electricity through your brain. its incredibly unsettling.

I don't get brain zaps from my Celexa (very similar to Lexapro) but when I was taking Geodone, when more than 24 hours had passed and I didn't take my daily pill, I'd get brain zaps so I know of what you speak.  What a weird experience.

I think I'm going to try and make an appt with the shrink in the morning for sometime soon.  I hate this med.

It's torture.

The only thing that stops the zaps is sleep or 1 glass of wine

I'm on Effexor and get brain zaps all the time.  I have learnt to live with them - in fact if I'm busy I don't even notice them.  I would rather live with brain zaps than constant debilitating acute anxiety, but maybe that is just  me.  We each have to find our own way.  All the best.
