is this a panic attack?

ok so i think i have a UTI.. and i went to the doc yesterday but they couldnt tell because i have been taking OTC meds for the symptoms.. and it changes the color of your urine.. so they sent it out for a culture..so i wont know for a few days.

but today i was just standing in the shower when all of a sudden my lower back hurt REALLLLLY bad!!! then my lower stomach started hurting. then after that i felt like i was going to pass out and felt really sick.

i still feel sick and my lower back hurts but not near as bad.

could this just be a bladder infection or UTI or is this just anxiety?
i dont know what to do! cry

i am so sorry to hear that you're having such pain! i have to say that i have never experienced any back pain from my anxiety, but maybe others have? i do know that i once had a terrible uti and it caused all sorts of back and stomach pain. it was really, really awful. (i still shudder to think of it!)

did your dr. put you on an antibiotic at all, or do you have to wait for the culture? antibiotics clear up uti's pretty fast, so hopefully you got some and will hopefully start feeling better soon!

also, when i got mine, my dr. recommended that i drink cranberry juice and that seemed to help a bit, too.

i don't have any other advice to offer other than-deep breaths-i just found a great breathing exercise online. inhale deeply through your nose, hold for a count of 7, then exhale slowly through your mouth. do several times. i just tried this myself and found it to be very calming!

This  is Kitt, I am not a professional but I am a bit confused that they could not do a unrine analysis because of the color of your urine.

Your kidney's are not in your lower back so I would not think it is anything to do with kidneys.

What are your sx?

Hope you did get the meds and if the culture is positive they can either change the med if it is the wrong one or if the culture is neg you could stop the med at your physician's advice.

I do feel you are probably anxious re what is going on.

I agree with Kitt. I don't understand why they would not do a urine analysis because of the color? Maybe you should seek a second opinion if your symptoms keep progressing. I hope you get to feeling better and please keep us posted.

they said that since i was taking OTC meds for the symptoms that it changes the color of your urine.. and she said its impossible to do a dipstick bc it stains it? idk something like that.


i have to wait until the cultures come back until i get any meds... sadly enough.. im in alot of pain.

the back pain actually went away.. its kind of coming and going. it felt kinda like pressure or something..


i also have GERD.. and im always afraid of stomach bleeding. i have BAD acid reflux. and ive had ALOT of bloating in my stomach these past few months. so im trying to stay calm..

I don't get that either. I know they have to send urine out for a culture to confirm an infection. It takes a couple of days. sometimes they can make an educated guess if your urine is really cloudy and/or you have blood in your urine. They can check by looking under a microscope. If you need meds, I hope you get them asap. I've never gotten back pains from anxiety either, but recently I had to have some tests done because I had unexplained blood in my urine. I'm telling you I was having back pain and pain right above my pelvic bone and it was moderately uncomfortable. After my tests came back fine, the pain went away. The mind is a powerful thing! Hang in there, you will know really soon. If your symptoms are unbearable I would call the doc and insist that they start you on antibiotics. If it really burns every time you urinate and you have a lot of pelvic pain chances are you have one. If you had a kidney infection the pain would be in your middle back right under your ribs, not your lower back. You might have increased pain there because you are understandibly tense right now!

I'm sorry for all the pain you are experiencing. . . I just said a prayer for you to get to feeling better. Lots of rest and drink plenty of fluids . . . water and cranberry juice for you :)

I have had kidney infections before that caused my back to hurt really bad (i got one when I was pregnant and thought I was in labor:). So its possible that your back pain is from the infection. Is it AZO you are using? That stuff helps until you can see the doc, but I do agree it turns your urine bright colors. I am surprised too that your doc didn't prescribe something based on your symptoms alone. Maybe if the pain continues, just call him back and tell him you can't stand it anymore. Good luck!!

Hi there, never in 18yrs of Panic disorder have i experienced 'anxiety' related back pain- or any physical pain. my physical pain is a direct result of my many physical illnesses... im glad your pain is decreasing, UTI's can be absolutely awful and they manifest themselves in many ways-

My daughter had a kidney infection and it hurt when the lower part of her back was pressed on. So, yes, you can feel a kidney infection in your lower back on the sides. I sure hope you feel better soon!

im thinking maybe its a kidney infection..

i'm feeling really sick and weak. im having a lot of lower abdominal cramping and lower back pain. now im starting to have a brown discharge and its still burning when i go to the bathroom


does that sound like a kidney infection?

We can't give a medical diagnosis on this forum but it sounds pretty bad to me. If I was you, I would either call your doc or go to the ER. Good luck to you!

i went in to my doc and gave another urine sample..
she thinks its a uti and said if i dont feel better in a few days to come see her again.
