This is our new thread called The Rant Spot!

Many of us have been going through so much lately, and I thought it would be nice to have a place to come and get everything off of our chests and receive feedback/support smile We can just jump on here, say it like it is. . . then move on with our lives without all the stuff being bottled up inside smile By doing this we can help make our anxiety a bit calmer, and by having it in one thread we can save on the bandwidth as well smile No rules here except the HW guidelines set by our wonderful Administrator that started this great website for all of us to get support and enjoy the good company as well smile

Welcome to the club and feel free to just let them "demons" out

P.S. After reading my post and a couple of others, I just wanted to remind all of us that this is a "Guilt Free Zone!" We all need to be able to rant sometimes to just get things off of our chest smile

I lost my job. Nothing to be done about it really, whole company had to cut 20% of all jobs & since I work in investments our division got even more cuts.
Guess it's time to go job hunting. I soooo hate bragging on myself, but I know it's the only way to get a job so I guess I'll just have to suck it up.

The best of luck to you Frances! Times are tough and I think they will get worse before they get better unfortunately. . . I'm also seeking more work myself. The bills and worrying about money has me frazzled right now as well.  I sure hope you find something you like within your field my friend :)

My turn!!!! Lol....As some of you know, I found out yesterday that i have tonsilitis, which is really painful and preventing me from doing much talking.....and my mother just keeps insisting that I call and get her phone and internet service disconnected!!!! Whenever I say that I cant speak long enough to do that she makes it seem like I'm wrong, and whenever i open my mouth everything comes out as a muffled whisper anyway....I dont know about you but if I was the customer service rep, I sure wouldnt want to talk to anyone that I could barely hear or understand!!!! Lol...i feel better now.....until she gets home and asks if I called them for her (which I did, but she doesnt know i suffered through the painful phone call after i popped a pain pill, you guys should have heard how many times i had to repeat myself, LOL, one guy even started yelling...I guess he thought i was hard of hearing, LOL) but she could have been a bit more understanding about my situation, and called them herself.

Hey Mizz,

Sounds like some of my family members, lol :)  I can be falling over and if I didn't keep things going they would be lost.  I used to work at a call center for quite awhile and it was hectic.  They listen into the calls and some places have key alerts if certain words are spoken, so the guy might have got into trouble for yelling at you.  It is a crazy job though, because you have to call people during the hours you know they are probably eating dinner or spending quality time with their families :)  I hope you get better!

i spent the day in 40 degree plus temps in my NO air-con classroom (upstairs, where heat rises) and 'taught' insolent, feral, no mannered, foul mouthed teenagers all day, with 2 ruptured eardums, a bad throat and a headache.
im done.

That is crazy Maz. I was hoping you would feel a bit better my friend. I can't believe the Australian Government does not make air conditioning mandantory in the schools with all the crazy heat you all get down there. . . Teenagers, oh boy. That is why I want to retire to a professorship at a college when I'm older if possible, of course it would probably be the same with some of the more priveledged kids that don't have to worry about failing because of the money. That is how I felt in college with the way some of the students were acting. . . Kind of like a continuation of high school, but only bigger smile
I hope things starting turning for the better for ya L.A.S. You take care and try to get some rest after your hectic day!

i sound like a jaded old woman, but seriously, kids today have NO idea how good they have it and they just abuse all forms of authority. i was a pain in the rear in high school- i know it, i admit it, always on detention or even the odd suspension, but i would NEVER swear at a teacher, throw FURNITURE at a teacher, let their tyres down and key their car (not me, a colleague) but you get the idea. ive been physically assaulted 3 times in 4 years. it does your head in.

but after reading some of the other threads, i feel guilty as hell for complaining, with Frances out of work, Kitt's money being taken, Nikki needing a job. so i should quit moaning and make the best of it. im just SO so so sick at the moment. my principal is awesome and let me go home earlier today (2pm instead of 3.30pm, so that was kind. my classes were over i was just doing the paperwork side of it)

its all a bit much, and then you put the heat in the mix and bam! crazy!

Cussing and throwing furniture is way overboard Maz. . . I'm sorry you had to go through that. I was wild in school a bit too, but would never have taken things that far.
And I feel the way you do about all the great members having a really rough patch too, but you are a member as well and now we have a thread to vent when we need and not feel guilty about it smile I know I don't have many people to talk to about the bad stuff and it is rough. . . Always have to put on the happy face to help family and friends. Gets rough sometimes, and I know you have to do the same with your profession, so just rant away my friend smile Sounds like some of those kids are in desperate need of therapy, which in my family would have been the broad side of a belt doing crap like that, lol. . . Not that I condone violence of children, I meant more of some real therapy like anger management, CBT or something smile

My nerves are so bad right now with the pain and February's bills coming in.  I am hurting inside and out. . . My darn ribs won't stop and I've been crying so much the past few days.  I just want the sun and warmth to come back. . . I've been slipping on my therapy, started smoking again and just want to scream!   Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!  I'm feeling so alone right now and I have people all around me.  I made an appt. with my doc and am going to consult with him about maybe getting on some pills for depression, but I have tried many of them for years and they don't seem to help.  Actually make me feel worse and I'm afraid to go down that path of switching every few months attempting to see what will make me "normal".  It does not hit me at all times, but enough lately where I don't know what to do.  I'm just lost and being a big baby now in my pity party. . . I'm sorry, but I needed to clear the air with how I am feeling.  I love you all and don't know what I would do without the support of such wonderful people and feel stupid for ranting when so many of you are going through worse. . . I definitely give you all kudos, because I'm at my wits end.

Sam, we understand, we have all been there and you have every right to get it out of your system and start to try and put the pieces together. I dont think taking AD's is a bad thing. There are times when you simply need them. it doesnt have to be long term- you would need to sort that with your doc of course, but there is no shame in getting help from meds. i know its an uphill battle, and being in physical pain does not help emotional issues either.
dont beat yourself up about smoking and slipping with your therapy- just make a decision to get back into the therapy as soon as you are able, and cut back on the smokes when you are ready. i know you said that AD's have made it worse in the past- maybe your Pdoc could fill you in on newer meds with less side effects?
Anyway, we are all here for you, and you rant all you need too. take care, you're in my prayers,

I'm so sorry you're having such a rough go of things. I don't do well with a-d's either so I can get your reservations on them. Maybe it will be better this time, though. I hope so.

No way! You do have it worse than me. You're health alone is really bad. Those kids are out of control. A lot of schools do not allow teachers to discipline students these days. I taught at one private school where the principal was so focused on getting enrollment (and thereby tuition) up that she wouldn't even let the teachers do more than yell at a student when they got into a physical brawl & injured their classmates. I couldn't keep them after school or keep them out of the field trip or anything. I think kids have always been rowdy, but it used to be that teachers could discipline them.

My first year the principals & deans were cool about it. I kept my high schoolers after class to clean desks with water & powdered generic Comet that I found in the closet when I inherited the classroom. It smelled horrible & the kids were convinced it was probably poisonous to breathe. :) I cleaned beside them to show them it was fine, but it was unpleasant. The best part of the discipline came the next day when I made sure to announce to every class period who we had to "thank" for the beautiful, shiny clean desks. They were so humiliated I only had 4-5 problems all year and only 1 repeat offender. I was so proud :) but I know that it is getting harder & harder to find schools that will let you give out any punishment at all. So sad. Maybe when someone is seriously hurt things will go back to the more orderly days of the past.

I sure hope you feel better & that the heat subsides a bit to give you some relief!

Okay my ex-boyfriend is taking off without paying any rent this month.. leaving me with nothing and it's going to be hell from here for me to just make it.

He has made my life even worst than it already was.

that's horrible! what a jerky thing to do to you! i'm so sorry.

I sure hope you find some way to work things out with your landlord. The good news is that there are a lot of renters out there, so maybe you'll find a new roomie quickly.

I have a couple that are moving in with me.. unfortunatly I didn't see him not paying rent... he broke up with me 2 days ago and told me he's leaving everything up to me...

I'm taking him to court... he hasn't left me many other options.

My life is just one giant mess after another... when will things get better?

Thank you L.A.S. and Frances for the support :)  Just having a little meltdown and I need to take my own advice about not feeling guilty for ranting in our guilt free spot, lol :)  I will start up my therapy again when I can and also consider some of these newer AD meds. . . One day at a time, and I know I can quit smoking again because I've done it before!  I am doing much better today thanks to my family here :)

Hey Corrie, sorry to hear about your boyfriend doing that to you.  I've had similar problems in the past and it is enough to stress a person out.  It is sad when you have somebody you can't depend on to do the right thing. . . I wish you the best and as far as things getting better, I think many of us need to find that balance within ourselves :)  Nice deep, slow breathing. . . Close your eyes and go to you happy place and take those baby steps back to happiness :)

Have you tried Lexapro? That one was the least bad for me. Very few side effects & I know a lot of other people say the same. Maybe your doc can try you on something mild like that or something similar so you don't go through what you've experienced before.
Also, have they checked your TSH? That was the prob for me one time. Then it was other types of hormones. I'm not sure what all they can check for males besides TSH but I think there's something. It's a super simple blood test but it took me getting locked up for them to run it so now I try to tell everyone to make sure it's not the crazy hormones wreaking havoc on your emotions. Your PCP or urologist can run the tests.

PS -- I think it's great you're trying to quit smoking again. It's such a hard habit to break, but you're right: you did it once & you'll do it again! :)

-I havn't posted in a while because I am just to overwhelmed with life at the moment to do so. To begin I made the mistake of getting to close emotionally to a resident at the nursing home I work at and she passed away....I visited her at hospital on the Sunday with the kiddies and she made me promise and swear that I would be back the next day. I didn't go back and she died...I didn't see it coming as she was only 63. I always had a close relationship with her as I understood her, I saw myself in her. She suffered major panic and anxiety. But also had major lung problems caused by smoking and heavy drinking through her life. I some how feel responsible for her death. She begged me to stay that Sunday, but my children were getting out of control and I was starting to have an anxiety attack myself, I had to get them out of there. I thought she was just having another anxiety attack herself. I swore I would be back!!! She was obviously scared! I went to ring her all day to say I wasn't comming but was to gutless to tell her I wouldn't make it as I knew she would be upset...So I guess all she knows is that I lied to her and I keep seeing her waiting for me!
-I have to move back to Townsville in 2 weeks and I have no money as my Xhubby is still holding up the property settlement. I dont know what I'm am going to do.
-Cyclone Elle is due to hit directly on me tomorrow morning with 100km per hour winds and Heavy, heavy rain. I live in Forest Beach a couple of kms from Cardwell and I am already cut off from work and family due to flood waters...I'm pretty scared and all alone. I'm sure the power will be gone shortly with the winds the way they are....I hate silence and silence in the dark is even worse!
-I just wanted to get a bit off my chest without a post all to myself.
-On a positive note...I am still sober!!!

Sam, I really think you need a thread of your own, just for you to share and let us help you. I may have misunderstood this thread as I thought it was just a place to post a rant but not expect to get comments, kind of a place to just let off steam.
A place to post your problems and leave them behind, not to keep the vent running.
Sam we all love you dearly and if your having issues you deserve your own thread as your kind of buried in this thread.

Thank you sweet Kitt :)  I was just letting off steam and had my wonderful family supporting me anyway :)  I can not say how much I appreciate the love and kind words! If I don't get myself under wraps I'll put up a post that is not so wild, lol. . . I'm learning to just get the facts out there and then get help to fix 'em without being too dramatic :)

Sam and all,
I just got news that my husband's niece's fiancee and his brother were in a serious snowmobile accident...........my niece's boyfriend, Brandon is OK but his brother Aaron is in critical condition and was air lifted from scene to trauma center. He can talk and breath but unable to move his arms or legs...................
As I am getting phone calls and speaking to the family I am praying for this young man.
Sam, I promise I will email you tomorrow.........right now, I have to be available for the family.
So I need to sign off for tonight.

I have a funeral today for my friend from the nursing home
- My head has been thumping since yesterday I think because i have introduced a weight lose medicine called Fenterdren to my already handfull of meds each day...I have ignored all the warning on the bottle for my current conditions and yet i am still taking it. I am thin already but feel the need to be thinner....Crazy i know!!!
- My town is isolated due to flood waters
- I cant get to work all week so I am going bonkers sitting at home. I am getting broker by the minunte. They helicoptered staff in but i was at the docs at the time so now i have to sit at home, probably all week.
- i have about 10 days to move and my family only ets back in 8 so the clock is ticking
- I feel so much better....I love this spread...Please dont reply i loved just getting that out and off my chest....I want to have a positive rant spot like a thank page where noone has to respond just get it out there too each day so i can balance the scales.

Sorry, but I can't help to reply smile I'm so sorry to hear about your friendsad You have my condolences and I hope the flood goes away so you can get back to work again. . . And please stop taking that stuff Gilly. . . You can maintain a healthy weight by exercising and eating healthy foods that will help to make your anxiety better. There is no need if you are already skinny anyway. I really hate the society ideals for the "perfect woman". . . There is no such thing and a lot of us guys like women to just be themselves. The average woman is not those people in the magazines or on tv. . . Pretty much anyone could look like that if spending about 12 hours everyday in hair, makeup and wardrobe, lol smile I modeled as a guy for a short period when I was younger and got fed up with all the crazy stuff they would do to me to "look better" and the ladies I saw were just miserable. . . Anyway, just my 2 cents smile
P.S. We do have a few postive threads to rant the goodness on this page and the next few smile
