As an ex-oncology nurse, ive seen people with cancer who never touched a cigarette, and at the same time, patients who were long term smokers. i, too, was a smoker (yes i see how dumb that is) and quit in a pysch hospital, cold turkey. i was studying to be a high school teacher and thought it was poor form to smoke and teach teenagers.(as if it wasnt poor form to nurse and smoke..)
anyway, i know its not 'P.C', but i miss my ciggies every day. i know i did the right thing in quitting, but whenever im tense or stressed, im desperate for a cigarette. i quit a few years ago, and wonder if the cravings ever go away?
nearly all my 'psych hospital buddies' have smoked. (i go to hospital to change my meds, as its easier to do it surrounded by doctors and nurses than it is at home- withdrawals and side effects etc)- it seems that smoking can often go hand in hand with depression, panic, anxiety and mood disorders. i know its naughty, but i miss it. i dont think my anxiety decreased with quitting.
Hope you can kick the habit-
