Question about buspar....?

okay so my doctor prescribed me to buspar for my anxiety/panic attacks... when i take it.... i usually take 10mg(one third of the bar) it makes me feel dizzy for one..which i probably should since it says may cause dizzieness on the bottle.... but it also makes me feel really weird like when i turn my head and move my brain is getting shocked... its really hard to explain. I dont know if i should just keep taking it or talk to my doc(will other anxiety meds do the same thing since they are the same class of drug?) if anyone else has expericenced this please let me know and i know no one can diagnose or prescribe anything online but suggestions would be nice.

Hi....I have the same thing happen with Lexapro.  I tried to wean off and even though I am still taking it, I get a 'brain zap', or a whoosing sensation when I move my head and eyes.  I know SSRI's can cause this sensation and maybe once you are on it for awhile, it will stop.  It wouldn't hurt to talk to your doctor about it and if the symptoms don't subside he/she can suggest something else that isn't in this family of drugs.

Hey there, I use Buspar and really find it helpful. 

BuSpar is an anti-anxiety medicine that affects chemicals in your brain that may become unbalanced and cause anxiety.

BuSpar is used in the treatment of anxiety disorders and and for short-term relief of the symptoms of anxiety, such as fear, tension, irritability, dizziness, pounding heartbeat, and other physical symptoms

The more commonly observed side effects  associated with the use of BuSpar include dizziness, nausea, headache, nervousness, lightheadedness, and excitement. When I first started the med I did have some dizziness but it cleared and Antivert in a low dose helped me through this side effect quickly.

I have been taking Buspar for over 2 years, and what you describe has happened to me. It still happens once in a while, but it was worse when I first started taking it. If it becomes really bothersome then you should bring it up with your dr.

Oh wow! Thank god this isn't just me. I started taking Buspar about a month ago and I am still having the pulsating when I move my eyes or head and just a feeling of disorientation and fatigue. It only lasts for about thirty minutes but it's so uncomfortable. I'm actually thinking of going off the medicine because of this uncomfortable side effect. I told my doctor about it and she said it was normal. Good luck, hopefully it will stop once you've been on it awhile.
