Speaking of all the wonderful health anxiety support I have tried to give to others...LOL...
In the past couple of months I have:
Walked around the house with a missing lens from my glasses and thought I was having a stroke. I was a rat hair from calling 911 when the hubby came out of the shower, looked at my eyes bugging out of my head from sheer horror and said "I found this on the bathroom floor." The Lens.
Wore a pair of new, dark blue suede shoes to a wedding. When I took them off later that night my feet looked all bruised. Panic. We were in a hotel room and I was convinced I had cut all the circulation to my feet, or my heart was shutting down and soon, this bruise would travel up my legs...the hubby very calmly says "It's the dye from your shoes. Your feet must have sweat when you were dancing." Duh.
Yesterday was the best. I got up to brush my teeth and my tongue was black...all of it. The hubby was on his way to the doc to pick up his Lipator prescription. I jumped in the car with him, and even he was concerned about my tongue. I get to the office, ask the receptionist if the doc was in...yes..(hubby didn't have an appointment to see him...just get the prescription) I ran around the desk and barged into his office where he is reading charts. Stick out my tongue right in his face. I told him I thought I had 'hairy tongue, some kind of black thrush...outer Mongolian Swamp fever...all lunacy coming out of my mouth. Thankfully, the doc is a tennis partner with the hubby so he didn't have me escorted out by my arm pits. 'Did you take Pepto Bismal recently?" he smiles. 'Uh yeah...I've been having some stomach problems with all the Advil I am taking for my Fibromyalgia." Then he told me to read the bottle....it causes black tongue and stools. Talk about feeling like a moron.
So to all of you with Health Anxiety Issues...think about the obvious before you have your nervous break down. BTW...it took all day to scrape that black stain off my tongue. Never take that stuff then go out to dinner with friends, or have the Queen over for tea. You will sending them screaming into the night....
