Im a 28 year old woman and have GAD, depression, and panic attacks. I also have IBS and IC (interstitial Cystitis) My health is a trigger for me as I worry about it often. I was diagnosed about 7 years ago with GAD and at the time I had major depression. My biggest battle is panic attack since they are the hardest to cope with. I fear so many things simply because I fear the panic attack. I currently dont take anything for my mental health but I do carry Klonapin for emergency.

Welcome, Bella! Panic attacks get easier and easier to get through if you "accept them" and "float" through them. Remember they are not dangerous. Buy some books to educate yourself. Klonopin is a great med to take when needed.

Also, look into meditation or biofeedback. You'll be feeling better very soon!

I used to fear panic/anxiety attacks so much that just thinking about having one would give me one! I would be unable to breathe and would end up in the ER thinking I was having a heart attack or a stroke. I took Ativan for a while and it helped, but I decided to wean off...it's been a year and a half since I stopped taking Ativan. I still have anxiety issues but I have learned to roll with them. When I feel short of breath and my heart starts pounding or feeling like it's going to start skipping beats I go with it and just inhale deeply through my nose and exhale through pursed lips. I don't fight the attack and it subsides quite easily. I also talk to myself to calm down. I'm a praying person so I pray and I also repeat over and over to myself that I am safe and nothing bad is going to happen to me. I also comfort myself with the knowledge that if I need to take meds to help me I will do it...I haven't had to do that yet. We're going to be alright. We're sensitive people and we need to talk to others who understand us. I'm glad to come here to just read other's posts and gain comfort from knowing I'm not alone. I need help sometimes and I want to help others as well.
