Hi there,
I have noticed that my anxiety starts to kick in right around 4pm. I have identified that this is the "real" start to my day. I work FT M-F, and I consider this my easy job. My schedule is my own, I am doing things that I love at work. I love being at work.
At 4pm, I begin to worry about what the evening will hold. Will the kids be easy or will they throw a wild ass fit? What will I cook for dinner? (I hate cooking). How will I manage to get household chores taken care of, play with my kids, manage a decent dinner, and have any left over time for myself? (The answer is I won't have any left over time to myself, and that makes me angry which makes me anxious).
My husband is helpful. He can tell when my anxiety is in overdrive and he'll just step in and do what needs doing.
Sometimes I have to be in my bedroom alone for 30 minutes with a cold towel over my face. Sometimes I take a hot bath. Once in a while I will drink a beer.
It is worse in the school year because we add the homework hussle.
You are not alone. Try to prioritize and put off those things that stress you out. Give yourself a start and stop time and let yourself quit those tasks that make you anxious. Set a timer for 12 minutes and see what all you can get done and then stop it.
