Hello Mini,
Welcome to HealingWell and the A & P Forum.
Celexa is an antidepressant in a group of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). It works by restoring the balance of serotonin, a natural occuring substance found in the brain, which helps to improve certain mood problems.
Desyrel (Trazodone) is primarily used for the treatment of depression. It is sometimes prescribed as a sedative, and it also is used in combination with other drugs for the treatment of panic attacks, aggressive behavior, agoraphobia, and cocaine withdrawal.
I think your physician has made a good choice if you tolerate these medications. I use Trazodone at low dose (100mg) for sleep as one of my panic triggers is not being able to sleep.
I would be sure to talk with your physician next time he prescribes a medication and ask him to explain the medications and normal side effect you may expect.
I do hope this combo works well for you. Do stick with us as we love new members.
Health and Happiness,
Kitt
