Good Afternoon Ladies,

   Do you feel like your anxiety symptoms are hightened when you have your period? Also, Im still feeling blah...unmotivated...and anxious.... Day 24 of Zoloft 50 mg...how much longer should i give it?

Well I have had a complete hysterectomy myself, but can attest to the fact that when I did have my monthly, I was either in a complete rage or really depressed. So yes, it did affect me. As for the Zoloft, it takes 4-6 weeks to reach full effect, so I think you need to continue to give it some more time.

In my experience, my anxiety/panic attacks happened before or during my period. Sometimes I blame it to hormones or anemia :-)

Yes, I do find my anxiety symtoms are affected by my cycle. Midcycle (ovulation) and the day before my period are the worst times. I know of other people who experience this too.

I am only on week 1 of Cipralex so I'm waiting for it to kick in too. I'd give the Zoloft more time as Nanners suggested. Take care.

Oh yeah - even when I'm doing well with my anxiety, that time of the month I am oscillating between totally freaked out anxiety ridden nerveball, homicidally angry, or a depressed crying all over the place mess. I used to be on BCP and referred to it as my "happy pill" as it regulated my hormones and kept me semi-normal temperament wise. I have to remind myself frequently its the hormones making my anxiety flare.

yes, I find mine is hormonal. I get it mostly from the middle of my cycle to when I start my next period. I have found that magnesium helps- it calms, anyways, and so does eating right, staying away from sugars and flour- for whatever reason.
Not always, I still struggle, but a little better this month.

always has been worse the week my period is due through the first few days it ends. im sure it effects a /p disorder but not the cause of it. just makes you worse.

yes, the five days or so before my period I go into a dark mood, irritable, some hopelessness. Getting worse with age - maybe perimenopausal for me.
