buspar has anyone tried this

i was wondering if anyone tried this med and if so what side effects and did it work???? ive been taking it now for 2 weeks feel so weird but i did before also so just dont know what to think anymore. confused

Several years ago I tried it, and felt weird also.....when I stopped taking it, the withdrawal symptoms were horrible. Waves of severe dizziness and nausea, cold sweats---it was awful. Talk to your doctor if you want to stop...certainly hope you have better luck than I did!

Buspar was the first med they tried on me for anxiety.  It made me feel extremely weird, and like a dark cloud hanging over me all the time.  I was on it for a month and never felt better. When I stopped it, it was as if a cloud was lifted and things were much "clearer" to me. I didn't like it at all but know many who have been on it and loved it.  Talk to your doc if things don't seem to be improving, it might not be the med for you as our bodies are so different in responding to various meds.

I tried it many years ago. It was also the first drug they gave me. I don't think the doc was very knowledgeable about panic disorder, because Buspar is supposed to be for general anxiety, not panic disorder. I quit taking it after a couple of weeks, it made me more anxious and dizzy.

I have been taking Buspar and I have not had any issues with it but I am at a low dose.

I have been on it for about 6 months now and take 15 mg in the morning and at bedtime.

When all other meds failed to some degree, Buspar worked.  You really have to give it a couple of weeks.  At first I did feel a little dizzy about an hour after I took it, but that quickly subsided.  I had no other side effects and have been on it for two months.  My Xanax use has dropped in half since I have been on this med.  From what I understand from talking to different people, it seems to be the type of med that it works really well for you or not at all.  I was also having depression issues that have completely gone away.  So I guess I was one of the lucky ones that it worked for.  I have been on everything and either could not tolerate it or it made me worse.

I am on it for some time now, 3 months to be exact, and don't have any significant side effects to tell.
It is working quite well for me. I am on a low dose as well.

Except for dizziness and hype nothing. I am not talking of my own experience but my cousin is on Buspar for the last 6 months. This is the first one the Doc. has given her for anxiety.

My anxiety now is almost 100% work related.

Buspar is really working for me this time. I have been on 20 mg once per day for a month. My doc just upped it to 2 20 mg per day. I took Buspar over a year ago when I was having out of control anxiety and it didn't help. When I told my doctor last month that I was having daily anxiety (not as bad as when I was hospitalized) he added Buspar to my meds again. This time, since the anxiety wasn't as severe, it seems to be helping me alot. I have no side effects from it - no increased appetite for example. I had been on Zyprexa for over a year - it was the only thing that tamed by severe anxiety - but it seemed to have stopped working and I didn't like it anyway - it causes increased appetite. But I had to take it to save my life.

Also 2 months ago I began seeing a therapist who said she felt I have now conditioned myself to work causing my anxiety. She's right. She began relaxation therapy with me and made the suggestions to me that I didn't have to be perfect, I didn't have to be everything to everyone, I was allowed to make mistakes, etc. I learned some techniques for calming down during anxiety exacerbations.

Bottom line is the Buspar is helping me in conjunction with therapy.

Thanks Kitt. You know, my therapist IS wise. I didn't even tell her I was a perfectionist, harder on myself than on anyone else, trying to be the perfect wife, mother, boss, employee, etc. She just figured it out on her own from talking to me. Now even though I am still hard on myself when not perfect or when I make a mistake, at least I do stop and think "hey, anyone could have made that mistake" or "you don't have to be all things to all people."
