Don't know what to do

I have had ulcerative colitus for 8 years. In 2005, I had a really bad flare up plus I had mono. I couldn't work for 4 months. In that 4 month time period, I got depressed & anxiety. Now every time, I get feeling bad for any reason, I have anxiety which of course activates my UC.  Today I got a stomach virus.I have felt miserable all day. also  My uncle died today & I need to attend his funeral in another state. I am afraid that I will have an anxiety traveling that far away (3 hour drive) I an having a hard time dealing with this.

I'm sorry to hear you have UC. I've heard that can be pretty rough. I have had mono myself and even though it's a common illness I know how bad that can be. It's no surprise to me that the two together knocked you for a loop and you ended up with anxiety. That's how my anxiety disorder started...with health problems.

My father died last weekend and the funeral was Tuesday. It was a couple of hundred miles away from where I live and the day before I began to feel ill. I was sick to my stomach a little and had a fever. Was really afraid I was getting sick and then the anxiety kicked in. But when I woke up the next morning I was doing a lot better. There was no fever. No anxiety. I just got in the car and drove down there.

I hope you are also feeling better today. I've traveled while sick many, many times and it's not pleasant. That's why I got so nervous the day before. However there are some things we just have to do. Just remember "this, too, shall pass". But again I hope you're feeling better and you won't have to use that mantra.

Sorry for your loss. If you were close, your stomach virus could be an emotional response, as I'm sure you know. If you weren't close you just may be sick, and there is always the option to stay home. Sometimes people get sick...I'm sure your family will understand.

I don't think it is the stress of my uncle's death & traveling but it might be. I found out about his death early yesterday. I didn't start feeling bad until yesterday afternoon. My family went out to eat brunch & then things went down hill after that. There is a stomach bug going around my area right now & since I work in a school, I think I caught it. I had some of the same symptoms weakness & headache & nausea. I am feeling a little better today just very weak & a headache
