do i have anxiety???

so i get these "dizzy" feelings as i call them cuz i don't know what else to call them... sometimes i feel like i'm falling for a second then it goes away... it's so weird and then sometimes i feel like i'm off balance or like "on a boat" kinda feeling... i've actually almost fainted twice in the past couple months too...
my dr. asked if i had anxiety but i don't know what anxiety feels like!.. lol...
i have been pretty stressed out lately bc i have ulcerative colits, a stomach ulcer, work has been crazy, and we've just had a death in the family .. all this has been pretty recent but i've been having those "dizzy" feelings on and off for about 5-6 years now!!!
oh ya, and i have insomnia! ..

just wondering if anyone else feels how i feel??

Sorry to hear of the challenges you've been facing recently....Dizziness and insomnia are only a couple of the MANY symptoms anxiety can cause. I suffer from dizziness, racing heart, shortness of breath, burning and tingling sensations, and blurred vision as a result of anxiety. However, dizziness can be the effect of many other health issues also. Just curious, has your doctor ran any test on you rather than ASKING YOU if you have anxiety??

My boyfriend gets that. He can't go on amusement park rides or drink alcohol, because it makes him very dizzy and wobbly. It's mostly a physical problem with him; however, he does get wobbly when he is stressed out.

Anxiety has a lot to do with fear. Anxious people are scared. They aren't always scared of the same things though. Some might be scared of social situations, others might be scared of getting on a crowded bus, and even others might be scared of going outside. Think of something you feel scared of, and think about having to meet that fear. Then you will know what it feels like to be anxious.

Hello and welcome to HealingWell. I would say you sound like someone who is having anxiety.

May I suggest that you see a therapist or counselor who may be able to help you sort out your feelings and help you learn new methods to deal with your anxiety and hopefully your sx will decrease or disappear completely.

mslady1996: to answer your ?, yes, i've been to several different kinds of doctors including holistic ones... some, think it may be allergy related but i've tried taking allergy meds and don't really see any improvement... my ENT did an MRI on me and also hearing and balance tests to which he found nothing... a couple acupuncturists think it's my spleen (?)... and i am now under chiropractic care as my last resort! ha!
i sure hope you're feeling better these days too and i will keep you guys posted!

subdued: yes, now i can't even go on amusement park rides either and i used to love them so much as a kid! sux... i will definitely try to assess my feelings when i am in a fearful situation to see if there are any changes... thx!

forum moderator: thank u for your suggestion, i will follow that link and do some research right now!

ps. i am a new member and have to say i feel very comforted now and not just crazy! haha

Hi there,, i too have colitis and also suffer with the dizzyness which i too find hard to describe,, like today i was feeling fine so me and my hubby went for a meal then bang all of sudden that feeling came,, that dizzy one, i thought i was gonna go(passout) i just got up went to loo and yup i needed loo (flare up with colitis at the moment too for past 4 weeks) and there was blood,, i then went back to the table didnt really want to be there so we left,, and came home , needed the loo again and again,,, now i put this dizzyness down to my colitis,, but then again i have anxiety and panick attacks,, so i dont know if its the colitis doing it or the panicks,, but i felt absolutly fine then it just happened,, i did not feel ill or panicked or pressured,, and it just happened for no reason i can think other than the colitis,,, does it happen with ur colitis?

Hi Colongirl (&Jo1972UK)!! I have Crohns Disease myself and its sound like both of you are having anxiety attacks vs colitis attacks. I know when my anxiety ramps up I will immediately get diarrhea and nausea first thing. Once I take my Xanax and lie down for a bit, I will start to feel better and the diarrhea and nausea will quiet down. Try to catch your anxiety at the first hint and usually you can stop it pretty quickly. Welcome to the forum and I hope to hear more from you both.

yes, this past time i had a flare up is about the same time i almost fainted so i think for me it's a little like they're connected... when i feel an episode coming on, i think it stresses me out then gives me anxiety which makes the dizziness worse... but how can i not stress out about my health with this darn disease!!! ugh, never-ending cycle... lately i've been trying meditation and yoga and not taking on too much @ work... i hope u get over your flare up soon and start to feel better...thx & good luck!

Hi all , seems it maybe our colitis thats causing it then,,, and i think we have the anxiety and panicks that go with it,,,i get so fed up,, as u will do i am sure,, ive never had so many things wrong with me since ive had colitis,,, seems they all go in hand,,, dam disease,, gets u down lol,,,oh i think i maybe getting my colitis undercontrol,,, no bleeding last night or today yaaayyyy i pray to god its stopping lol xxx hope every one is feeling ok, jo x
