Hello everyone. I'm feeling very sad today! My dad has been in the hospital for 7 months and he took a turn for the worse last nite and he is two hours away from where i live and i'm too afraid to travel and go see him! He had open heart sugery 7 months ago and has been having complications every since. Last nite my aunt(his sister) called and told me he slipped into a coma! He was non responsive for a couple of hours! He is getting sicker by the day and i feel like time is running out but i can't build up the courage to make the trip to see him! Even with meds i'm afraid i'm going to get half way there and start having PA's! I have been talking to him on the phone every other day,he knows why i haven't been there but i need to see him,because he may die soon! Please Help!

Hello-

I am not sure how much help I will be, but I believe you should go and see him. I am afraid to do certain things also because Im afraid it will spike my anxiety but under those circumstances I think it would be worth a try. Good luck and please post and let us all know what you decided to do. Hope your dad gets better.

Thanks Ams! I think i'm going to try to make it tommorow! I am so terrified beyond belief! I have someone to drive me but i'm still terrified! If i go i will keep you posted on how things go!

Hey sweetie, this is one of those times when you just "do it". Don't anticipate the anxiety just think about your Dad and know that going will feel so good to you once you make the trip.

You have someone to drive you so take your xanax as prescribed when you get up in the morning and give it time to kick in and stay in the moment. Depending on how your Xanax is prescribed I would take another dose the minute you start to feel the anxiety increasing. Remember to take deep breaths and tell yourself you are doing OK as you will be.

I have been where you are and I have just had to push through the anxiety and do what I needed too. I have great faith in your ability to make it through.

Thank you Kitt! (tears) I am going to give it a try this weekend. I'm goign to try to stay posotive and push through it,although i'm dreading it! But like you said,i just need to think about my dad. I guess i've got to bite the bullet,maybe this is God's way of trying to help me get pat this fear.
