I don't have a diagnosed case of anxiety but I have suspected that I had at least a mild case for many years now. Lately I have been more and more anxious. I can't sleep well because I am always worrying about thing I have to do or things that might happen. I didn't know that you could feel pains in your chest from anxiety until I read a post on this forum and I have been having those too.

Something that has been really causing me to worry all the time is that my husband just got this great new job that he went to special training for for 6 months out of state while me and out 6 month old baby stayed behind. We move really far away from our family so he could take this job and now he is doing his on the job training. His boss is telling him he might not be cut out for it sometime and other time he tells him he is doing ok. My husband can't really think of any major things he has done wrong. This bothers my husband but not nearly as much as it does me which is a red flag to me that I am overly anxious. Shouldn't he be the most worried since it is his job after all? I am afraid he is going to get fired after all the work we have put in to him getting this job.

Does anyone have any advise about how to let this go or at least not let it drive me crazy? I just feel like I'm on an emotional roller coster when I think about it and I really can't afford to be losing sleep since I am caring for our now 18 month old baby.

Hello and welcome to HealingWell. After reading your post it struck me that you have a lot going on in your life and you have a right to feel anxious as long as you do not let it rule your everyday routines.

Moving is always stressful and you have left behind your family whom I am sure was a major part of your support system. You have a child that you spent 6 months alone with so your hubby could take this new position and now you may be wondering was it worth it.

As far as your husband not appearing to be as "bothered" about losing his position, perhaps he is trying to keep from showing his worries from you so as not to stress you further. My hubby is a worrier but he does not like to talk about it.

You seem to need to talk with others and vent your feelings so you have come to the right place.

Try not to anticipate a bad outcome and know that you can deal with what ever comes your way. Keep on believing in yourself and stick with us.

Hi Anna and welcome.

When you use the phrase "special training" out of state it makes me think of government or military work. I don't know if that's the case, but could your husband's boss going back and forth be a way of motivating and "encouraging" him to reach his fullest potential? Just a thought. I think of all those movies about military training and boot camps where the trainees are always being yelled at and put down. It's not the approach I would take, but everyone has their own ideas.

Also I can appreciate you're being worried about the situation. His job (or lack thereof) has a direct financial impact on your family as well as where you'll be living. That "unknown" factor can cause a great deal of anxiety for many people. But be careful not to get caught up in wondering "what will happen to us if...?". Have faith that you'll find a way. If for instance he doesn't end up with this job that may be an opportunity to stay closer to family and hopefully find an even better job where right now there may not be an opening. It's all too easy to wonder about how things could go wrong, so my suggestion is to try focusing on what could go right (even if there's a hurdle that comes before the reward).

Thank you for the replies and the welcome.  

We both think that at this point he will keep his job since no one higher up has talked to him about whether he is doing poorly or not and as much money that his employers have put into his training that just doesn't make sense. Fugs you are probably right that it's a tactic he is using to get him to work harder, his boss used to be a drill sergent. You are also right that I don't need to focus on the "what if", even though its really hard not to worry all the time about it.
