Venlafaxine HCL ER (Generic Effexor XR)

Does anyone take Effexor XR?  If so, have you  been given the generic Venlafaxine HCL ER since it is new out on the market?  I wanted the pharmacist to give me Effexor XR and he said that my insurance would no longer cover it since there is a generic out now.  I am nervous about taking the generic one. 

If anyone has also been switched to the generic, have you noticed any difference in the medications?  I am such a worrywart!  Ugh...

I take the generic version and well I had never been on medication so the only thing that bothers me is th anxiety that I get other than that its ok.

I am in the same boat and take the generic but never took the tradename, Effexor so I have nothing to compare it to.  My insurance would not pay for the trade name medicaiton.  It still has a high co-pay even in the generic form.

Wow, how long has the generic been out? It just came out here where I live. Kitt, so you do fine on it then? Thanks for both of your replies! I really appreciate it!!!

I was on name brand regular Effexor tablets (not the XR) and was switched to the generic tablets. I haven't noticed any difference, seems to work the same for me and I've been on the generic for a number of years.

I just started the med on May 5 of this year and it was generic from the start.

The jury is still out in my court room on how well this med is working for me.  I hope you have great luck with it.
