My Husband Wants Me Back At Work

 Hey, I want to be back at work, too, but I have to face up to the fact that apparently I am NOT READY to make that step (my new psychiatrist hasn't given me the "go-code") and until he thinks it's time for me to hit the clock again, that's the way things will be.  I know I need to contact my union steward to see if I still HAVE a job or my job slot is still open for me to come back.  Boy, would it fry my husband's brains if I no longer have a job and get denied OPM-FERS disability.  I will have to re-apply with the SSA, they didn't get all the information they needed in time.  I am really keyed up about this, and more than my husband knows.  Well, let me email my union steward and see what he says.  I will let you know what he said and anything else that's going on.  Hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving, I had a very nice one.  Love you guys and talk to you later,

I am sorry your husband is putting pressure on you but as a wife of a hubby that tries to understan, I know what it feels like when he just becomes frustrated with the whole deal.

Remember you must do what is best for you and if your Dr. has not cleared you to go back to work then I would try to explain this to him.  Perhaps he could accompany you to one of your visits to your psychiatrist.  I would ask your psychiatrist if it is ok to bring your husband to one of your visits.

We will be waiting to here what your union steward has to say re your position.

I know waiting is tough, especially for those of us that have anxiety. Hopefully you'll find out about the disability soon. I don't know all of the ins and outs of it, but I know it can be a real pain and that people frequently have to appeal these types of things when turned down (which means more time). I would think that if you knew you had income via SS for awhile that your husband would feel more comfortable with you not working right now and focusing on your recovery.

At the same time, I know your husband's life (and not just your own) has been affected by all that's happened lately (worrying about you, worrying about money, moving, etc.). Does he have a support system? Even the most supportive people need to vent and get their own emotions out at times... I hope he has someone to talk to.

I really like your idea of reminding your supervisor that you're in treatment and intending to return. Someimtes out of sight means out of mind to them, and I know too that some folks take advantage of leave, which makes it harder for honest folks like you when you need it too.

Fugs, waiting is tough, and I imagine I will have to appeal both the SSA and the OPM-FERS disability at some point. Still sending paperwork out so I don't know anything yet. With him, even if I were receiving SSA, I don't think he would like it because I would not be able to provide housing for the both of us like I did before (or would I qualify for a HUD home at that point???) As far as my husband having some kind of support system, he has a friendship with his boss and his boss's brother and he can vent to them and they'll listen to him. But he's still having a very hard time dealing with all of this, more so because he found out he can't move in with another one of his boss's brothers and thus get out of his grandmother's house. I must pray that the Lord would send someone to him to help him deal with all of this. But my husband needs to look into getting his Class A CDL license, which so far he has refused to do: he doesn't want to have to truck all over the place long distance and out of state (OTR). If he wants us to be back together, he's going to have to contribute toward bills or we may not get back together for a very long time. Frustrating, all of this is.
