I have been prescribed 75mg of Effexor and 5mg of Buspar twice a day each, and I'm not sure it's working right? Well, I have never taken it 2x daily because I am afraid of what it will do to me- something bad?? My panic makes it hard 2 trust to take it right.I'm so scared that taking it right will make something terrible happen to me. My fiance thinks I DO take it right, and when I have told him before that I'm scared to, it always becomes a big fight. I've been on it for 2 years. I'm supposed to take the Buspar during an attack, but the same fears keep me from taking it- afraid something "bad" will happen, or it will make me have a worse attack. I've told my doctor, but she didn't really help calm my fears! lol Does anyone else take this medicine or have/had the same fears?? Anything to help would be great :)

Couple of things come to mind reading your post.

The usual starting dosage for BuSpar is 5 mg two or three times a day (10–15 mg/day), with increases of 5 mg/day at intervals of 2–3 days to an optimal therapeutic dosage of 20–30 mg/day in divided doses. The maximum dosage should not exceed 60 mg/day. I use this medication on a daily basis.

As for Effexor are you using the extended release - I take 150 mg each morning of Effexor XR.  I worked up to the 150 mg very slowly and was originally prescribed for 225 mg but stopped at 150 mg as I was good at that dose.

Each person is different and will react to the meds in their own way.  Please discuss your fears of taking the medications with your physician.

Therapy along with medication is a great way to overcome your anxiety.

Welcome to the forum nice to meet you you will fid great support and advise here. I used to take 225mg of Effexor xr but stopped this medication a while back and switched to escitalopram (Lexepro). I understand your fears re taking medication as when I first started to take AD I read the leaflets inside and saw all the possible side effects and scared myself stupid. We are all different as Kitt said when it comes to AD and it is a personal choice wether to take them from my experience of AD I have found them to help ease my anxiety but for me they have not fully resolved my mental health issues and have been more of a platform to aid my CBT which combined with medication has been very useful.

To stkitt- I was on extended release, but my insurance stopped paying 4 it, so I went on "regular" Effexor. I hope I have found a psychologist today->fingers crossed!-< to help me as well because I do not think my medicine alone is enough. Thank you and thank you Ben for replying to my post!! All support and encouragement is greatly appreciated :) :)

I am so happy to read you found a therapist and I have found therapy to be so helpful.  It has validate my feelings and help me understand of why I over-react at times by putting myself down.
