really need your help guys.....

been ill for over two weeks now. Thought it was swine flu at first but temperature was never high enough according to docs etc. Even though I can hardly walk around without massively shivering. Because its taken me soo long to get better. I am now super anxious about it. I'm hardly sleeping. I took a lot of paracetomol over the last couple of weeks (2x500mgs every several hours) and I'm worried that has damaged my liver ( I have pain/ tenderness in my right side betwen my hip and ribs. Its my main cause for concern and is affecting my sleep. My nose is totally blocked which makes me anxious in itself. I shiver most of the time when I am out of bed or undressed but my temp hasn't gone over 37.5. I have what looks like slightly swollen tongue and its is thickly coated slightly yellowy ( dehydration according to docs... erm ok how come it hasn't got better then? I have a sore on my bottom lip (from biting it as it has felt tingly for ages. intermittant diarrhoea, GERD and REAL trouble swallowing/chewing. Sometimes (gross I am sorry) I can find bits of food in corners of mouth ages after. Although appetite has been ridiculously non existent. A massive prob is agrophobia. Fear of leaving the flat and bumping into someone I know and having to talk to them. It scares the hell out of me. A certain legendary Belgians website ("no spam here please I am british" ;) has helped with that but thats gonna take a while. I guess I need baby steps and need to venture out for only a few mins at a time. I think sleep would really help with that though and make me feel a little less like fainting

anxiety that is it and depression. That and I am waiting back to hear on glandular fever which my fiance has been confirmed with

Hi WN, sorry to hear that you have been so ill. If it is indeed glandular fever (mono/eptein-Barr virus) you can expect to have a longer recovery than most viruses require. Since you fiancee has it, chances are you do as well. Also, rest is absolutely necessary. Staying quiet and in bed will help you to recover faster.

With any prolonged illness, it is common to get depressed. You just don't feel well in body or spirit. Give yourself time to get well. Don't feel pressured to socialize, or go out. When you feel better, things will look up!

I hope that you can feel better soon, and not be too anxious. Remember that it is normal to have a long recovery from this, just rest, pump the fluids, and eat healthy foods.

Thanks cat thats a very kind response. I've never felt so ill for so long in my life. I think missing most the xmas holidays sent me over the edge. I really needed a break and I never got one :(
