Pristiq Experiences?

I have been on Celexa for over a month and it helps my anxiety but not my depression and makes me nauseous and tired. I have tried Zoloft, Cymbalta, and Effexor but couldn't stay on any of them too long because of the bad side effects. Doctor wants me to try Pristiq now but i am nervous of the side effects since he said Celexa was the mildest of the meds. Should I try the Pristiq or live with the Celexa?

I have tried many of the meds but often quit them as I felt I could not deal with the side effects.  Finally when I started Effexor XL I promised myself I would just stick with it and make it through the side effects which I did.

Celexa and Pristiq  are 2 I have not been on.  smhair .  Perhaps someone with experience will be along to answer your questions.

I take pristiq and it works very well for me. I have been on it for about a year now. I think... I have not had any side effects from it and don't get the brain zaps that I got on effexor. It works for me, but we are all different and what works for some might not work for another. I hope that you try it and that it works for you. I also take abilify and xanax. The abilify helps the pristiq to work better. It is a mood stabilizer.

I truly hope that you find what works for you. Give it a try. That is the only way that you will know.

Good to meet you. I have also tried many off the antidepressants some with better results than others it can take a while to find the right medication. Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) is an updated version of Effexor (venlafaxine), I have not tried pristiq but have read people have had good results with it. I was on Effexor at a high dose and it was very hard to wean off when I changed medication.

I would say give it a go and it usually takes 6-8 weeks before you feel the real benefits and see how you get on. Keep in contact with your doctor through that process and if side effects a problem go and see him.

I was on pristiq before, was on it for several months. The plus side is that it takes effect fairly quickly, i experienced very few side affects if any. I was taken off it because I needed something stronger. I now take Lithium, Seroquel, and lamactial and I'm probably going to have to up my meds again. Don't be too afraid of pristiq, its not so bad.
