Okay, so I had my wisdom teeth out and things went fine. Only a couple of minor complications. Today I had to go back to the surgeon because of one of those complications, and he poked around without numbing me or anything so afterward I was hurting b bit. Also, while I was at the hospital I thought I'd go ahead and get my blood drawn for my regular doctor. I had an appointment with her last week, but didn't know she would want a blood panel done so I didn't think to fast. Anyway I forgot about that bloodwork until today.

So I get out of the surgeon's office. Stumble over to my doctor's office. They draw my blood, I leave. By this time it's nearly 11am so I'm pretty hungry. Taco Bell on the corner.

Taco Bell sounded good. Horrible for you, but tasty and I haven't had anything tasty for a while. SOFT tacos, though, right? It sounded like just the thing. So I got three of those and came home to eat them. Well, eating them really aggravated the spot the surgeon was poking around at. Eating anything would have. Exposed bone.

But I did eat all three and took a pain pill. 7.5 mg Lortab. I don't have much experience with pain meds, but these seem awfully strong to me. I just had this weird daydream in which Andy Griffith and Barney Fife were trying to get a virus out of a computer. They were unsuccessful. Aunt Bea gave it a shot and was totally flummoxed. Ultimately Opie came along to save the day. Think about that one for a moment. This wasn't a dream...I was awake, sort of. It was all in black and white and was just like The Andy Griffith Show.

Anyway that's beside the point. Off and on I would go into these daydreams. No problem. But sometimes I'll go to sleep for a moment, and when I wake up I am TERRIFIED. Not sure why. And that's the problem I'm having.

Because I ate those greasy tacos, being terrified makes me a bit sick. Around 12:15 it occurred to me that I hadn't taken my Klonopin and Prevacid so I did that. It seems to have made no difference.

So basically I'm sitting here hurting, confused because of pain meds, and in a high anxiety state. The Lortab has taken away all of my sense, so I can't seem to put the brakes on the anxiety. I also forgot to mention that I went from smoking heavily, to not smoking at all for nearly three days, and then to smoking extremely lightly just to curb some of the withdrawal.

I don't know if there's any advice anyone can give me, but if there is I'd sure like to here it.

Well, I guess nobody has any advice. What advice could they have other than "stick it out"? Nothing else I can do.

I will say this, though. I'm getting pretty low. Tired of everything. No, I don't hurt as badly as I did a few weeks ago, but I am STILL not back to normal. I can live with the post-op pain and soreness. That kind of thing is to be expected. But why the sudden exponential increase in anxiety? Why the nausea? Why did I have to have these tooth problems when I did? My business was just keeping its head above water, and of course now it's sunk. My whole life has been turned upside down. I can't afford the dental bills, the car payment, the IRS, and on and on. It'll take at least a year to dig myself out, and that's if I'm healthy.

Sorry I was out most of the day.

Lortab and Vicodin are the same medication = Hydrocodone.

Hydrocodone comes in 5/500mg and 7.5/500mg.  You could ask your Dr for the 5/500mg or break your 7.5/500mgin half = 3.75/250mg.

The medications is pretty strong for some people and on top of your meal the whole episode just did not work well.  We all do the same things so I hope you are feeling better by now.

I'm as bad as I have been at any point today, and I ate those tacos at 11am, almost eight hours ago. Now I have a horrible taste in my mouth too.

Well I took a nap and my stomach settled down. Pain is still pretty bad but you get used to that after, well, four months of it.

I just hope tomorrow's a better day. It's openING DAY (baseball) and that's like a holiday for me.

D., Anxiety always makes pain worse. I cannot take pain med, it makes me really crazy, but then again I am pharmacuetically (sp) challenged. I have made some strict eating habit changes and it has helped me tremendously. I think I would die now if I ate at Taco Bell or any fast food, no nutrients, etc... Bills and obligations will always be with us. Make a plan to get out of debt no matter how long it takes, remember to keep out enough money to take care of yourself so all stress does not get to you. I had IRS problems as well, worried myself sick. Finally I thought, I will scrap up some money to hire a tax attorney and let him deal with it. Best thing I ever did. Reasonable too.

I hope you are feeling better today. Think about the changes you can make in your current lifestyle that would reduce your anxiety and make you feel better.

I hope your  weather is sunny for the opening day of baseball - do you get to throw out the first ball ? 

I think pain and anxiety together are two horrible challenges.  You just beg for relief and the more you beg the higher the anxiety goes.

Kitt, the weather is supposed to be perfect for opening day, as it always is indoors! At the park (where I'd love to be) it's supposed to be about 90 with a negligible chance for thunderstorms. So a pretty warm and muggy day. And throwing out the first pitch, of course, is reserved for far more notable people than me.

For me, pain is a source of frustration more than it is anxiety. It usually is what it is. Can cause anxiety when I feel like it should be getting better (like now) or when it comes on very suddenly (that will shake a person up). What is sure to give me anxiety problems is nausea, which isn't something I've had a lot of lately but did yesterday. What a long day it was.

PG, that's great you don't eat fast food, but most of us do now and then and it doesn't kill us. Or make us nauseated all day, either. I think I was going to be sick yesterday no matter what I choose to eat, honestly. Anyway, my financial situation is a fair bit more complex, unfortunately. And the IRS is after my famiily, not just me. When they're after you like that and you expect it, there's nothing to do but bend over. They're not going to find enough to make it worth hiring a good enough attorney to end it. Luckily I had the sense to mind my p's and q's after my dad died last year. I thought they might come after me next, and they did, so I ran a pretty tight ship all in all.

Anyway, I am feeling better today. The pain isn't as bad. Haven't taken anything for it. Nausea is gone, and magically so is the anxiety. Makes a world of difference. I looked in my mouth and that hole he was poling at yesterday appears to be forming a scab or something, and I'm guessing that's a good thing.

pain killers caused me to panic like crazy! I bet you the culprit was the pain killers and not the tacos! glad you're feeling better!

LOL,  the Twins have an outdoor field again but played for years in the Dome.  Good thing the new field opened last year as our dome roof collasped in one of our major snow storms. 

Glad to hear your feeling better.  I can handle some pain but what throws me for a loop is how quickly the anxiety/depression will just drop on you like a ton of bricks and I fear I won't make it to the top yet one more time.
