my dr gave me some 30 mg cymbalta and i just started taking it today and i am having problems with the side effects so i tried to call him 4 hours ago and he has not called back yet so i was wondering how long the side effects will last today like if it will be all day or just like 6 or 8 hours bc after today i dont think i am going to take it again but any help will be appreciated thanks

Hi Jason,

Welcome to the HealingWell Anxiety and Panic forum. I am so glad that you have joined us. What kind of side effects are you having? Generally they will last from one to two weeks. And it also takes the medication a good six to eight weeks to reach it's full potential, though you may start to feel better sooner than that.

As always, always consult with your physician before stopping any meds. I am thinking that they are going to tell you to give it a chance. One day isn't much and what is going on could be due to something else besides the medication and this could be a coincidence. So please try to go a few days, and possibly make it for the two weeks that it takes for the side effects to go away.

I hope that you feel better soon. It would help if you could tell us what the side effects are. Maybe we could help you more.

this was my first time taking something like this after i took i was drowsy and had diarrhea within an hour i had so much energy all i could do was walk back and forth outside and it seemed like every time i stopped i would get light headed/dizziness and have to go to the bathroom and had a nausea feeling all day.

Make sure and keep drinking water :) I find that helps a bit with the side effects xx

Hi Jason,

I am sorry I have never taken this med before but I have a friend who does and it works great for her...but it may not for you. Try to make an appointment with you doc and see if you can try something else.
