Would you be friends with yourself ?

Right now I would have to say no as I feel like I am a burden on my family and friends and expect them to somehow heal me when they cannot ~ it is my job.  I need to accept this. 

I do know they love me and that is good.

(Hugs friend...just having the wisdom to know these things is most of the journey, and you are never a burden...more of a bundle of awesomeness!)

Would I be a friend to myself? Yes, I am fun, mellow, non-demanding, helpful...I would however probably get frustrated with my 'flake factor' I would have to text, e-mail, or call several times before I got a response, oh and I might get a late birthday card (if I was lucky)

Me, heck no, way too complicated. But the important thing is, I understand me really well, and that's what's important, very close friends, get an insight, but never the full picture.

Kitt, you are fine just the way you are, don't put pressure on yourself, take the time you need, this process we all go through, can't be rushed, be patient with you my friend. You would never tell us to rush things.

What an interesting question!

Like you Kitt, I definitely feel like I am a burden to my family, but I am working hard to remedy this... Just remember Kitt, if they love you, I doubt they feel as though you are a burden but someone who makes there own lives' better.

Would I be friends with myself? I think so...but it would definitely be a love-hate relationship, lol! I know I can be very difficult to be around but at least I would understand my own sense of humour, lol!

I do think it is important to be friends with yourself if not essential. It would play into your self-esteem or lack thereof otherwise. I guess this is something a lot of us anxious people have to learn to do...

Great question Kitt :) I'd like to say yes....but not all the time. I know i can be easy company & i always take an interest in other people and what's going on with them. I think as a person gets more assertive and starts setting healthy boundaries, people can be confused at times....

From reading your posts on here i think you could say yes :)

I was just thinking about this. Yes, I would definitely love to find a friend just like me even with the same flaws. Imagine spending time with someone who truly understands and supports even the worst parts of you. How comforting! I realized that I have been surrounding myself with people of similar values but not passions. I hope that once all of these health issues are better I will be able to reach out and socialize more with people who share the same passions.

I think I would. I'm a decent person, I'm generous with my friends, I'm loyal and caring. But I can be a bit *****y, if you cross me I don't forgive easily and I can be a bit 'geeky' lol

Absolutely, as Cynthia says..it would be great to find a friend just like me who understands.  I do have a BFF that understands me better than probably anyone in the world and I him.  It's great.  Just because we hurt, or have anxiety, doesn't make us a bad person to be friends with.  I would give the "shirt off my back" to anyone that truly needed it.  I am always ready to offer what I have learned through all this.

Awty, you took the words right out of my mouth..........No, too complicated.  On top of it all I am a Gemini.  Everyone thinks we are so shallow but we are actually very deep thinking individuals.  The answer could be Yes, if I really knew me.  Sometimes I don't even think I know myself very well.
