Hey all,

I've been having a pretty bad time and am off work for a week. I've been prescribed Lyrica to help me calm down. Apparently it's not addictive which is good. I haven't taken it yet. I'm lying here in bed looking at it and reading about it. €120 for 60 pills! That's €2 a pill!!!

My concern is weight gain. I came off zyprexa 2 months ago and have lost 28 pounds since then. I never, ever want to look like that again. But with Lyrica....will it happen again? I feel so awful that I feel I need to take it but I don't want to do that at the expense of my body image. I'm only starting to feel like a woman again.

To the best of my knowledge, LYRICA is used to treat Diabetic Nerve Pain and Pain after Shingles, and Fibromyalgia. I have heard of it being used for anxiety.

I have also read Lyrica can cause huge weight gains. It will depend on the individual person.

Thanks Kitt :) Yeah I'm going to be severely monitoring it this time and reaaalllllly watching what I eat and making sure I exercise a LOT.

Good to meet you. I have been taking Lyrica for a while now, I take 400mg per day. Lyrica is an anticonvulsant which has only recently (2010) been approved for the treatment of Generalized Anxiety Disorder in Europe.
I was told it is only used after other more common medication have been unsuccessful and works similar to Valium but without the addictive nature. Lyrica is a potent medication so take it as prescribed it took me a while to get used to it and one of the main side effects I found was it made me unbalanced on my feet but apart from that I think it is a good medication.
I have put on weight but not sure if that is down to the Lyrica as I take it with an number of other medication which do cause weight gain. I am going to see my doctor next week as it is becoming a problem for me. I hope this medication work for you and if you have any questions let me know.
