HELP...anxiety out of control

To anyone...Help, I don't know what to do. I am having so

many anxiety attacks its ridiculous. And honestly its

now affecting me extremely. Its not just having one every week or 1-during the day...

its I am waking up during the night having one.

I'm taking too many Vistaril and still having them.

Does anyone have any ideas or thoughts to help me.

What kind of meds are the best for this problem?

Taking Gabapentin, Vistaril, Prozac, Zyprexa, imitrex, flexeril

Hi Serenitee, I am so sorry that you are going through this right now. I have been there myself, and it is miserable! I used to have multiple panic attacks in one day. I would also go to sleep exhausted from the anxiety, only to wake-up to more panic...there was no escape;(

My advice would be to consult with your dr. regarding something fast-acting for the accute panic attacks. I am not knowledgeable about meds, so I can only suggest talking over your options with your physician/p-doc. Then if you have not done so already, get started in a program to get the A/P under control.

Many of us here, myself included, have found recovery through therapy. Specifically, CBT is found to be very helpful in re-training anxious thinking patterns, relieving the symptoms. If you have already gone through courses...maybe it's time for a re-fresher, or you may simply need another round of sessions. I personally went through two courses of CBT! (I'm not a quick learner obviously;P)

I hope that you can get the help that you need soon, and start to feel better. Keep posting, and let us know how you are doing soon:)

I've been right where you are Serenitee! The all day anxiety with panic attacks thrown in, or the all day just straight up panic. I'm so sorry that you are going through this! I have to agree with what S.C. said about first talking to a doctor to get some relief for the constant panic, there are a lot of meds out there that work, and I'm sure your doctor will discuss them and help you decide what's best for you.

I also highly recommend CBT. It has changed my life completely, and it is worth learning, and can really help you get through these tough times. I also like to read Claire Weekes books. They are filled with information about what you are going through and why and for me it was a great place to start learning to use cbt. There are also a number of other wonderful books out there, if you like to read, and I'm sure others here can offer different titles too you. Keep posting and know that we are all here to help you get through this!

I can't thank you both enough, Scaredy Cat and Junebug. Your advice sounds just great. A couple weeks ago I was telling my Doctor about how bad they were getting. She added Zyprexa and night, but obviously its not working. I agree with you Scaredy Cat about asking her something that is "fast-acting"...that is definitely something I need. I was supposed to start a 6-month DBT Program a couple weeks ago but unfortunately had to postpone it because of intestinal problems. However, I just had surgery a week ago and am feeling a lot better. I had an ileostomy. I had honestly not thought about programs for me and sessions. I did a 4-month outpatient program from September-January. So I think I need to follow up with attending something.

I THANK-U so much for your advice. Its nice to know that other people have gone thru similar issues.

I know that you will do very well once you can get a handle on the attacks. Look at all that you have recovered from and faced already up to this point! I am sending you positive thoughts and healing prayers! Great job on all that you have overcome and best wishes for your current circumstances:)

Serenitee, I am going through same thing with anxiety recently in the last week or so, have not been able to leave house or sleep either, I take Xanax which helps but have to be careful to not take more than perscribed..did you say you just had iliostomy? That is what I have and it contributes to my anxiety I know, always worried.. Thinking about doing an outpatient program again for anxiety, but afraid to leave house? Silly huh? Your advise has been great, I know I will get through this and so will you, patience...

I am sorry to hear about the consuming panic, I HATE panic attacks!!! I have them in the car and of course feel TRAPPED, or when I am at the office for work and feel TRAPPED again! I know for me running outside and taking my deep breaths that I learned in CBT helps, but if they are happening so much like you are having, the fast acting med of choice I hear is the Xanax. Supposed to work within minutes to stop the panic signals in the brain, then you will have relief. I dont have Xanax, I only have Klonopin, and I chew them and they work within 30 minutes, usually if I am getting real upset I will take the Klon and then do my breathing, usually always works like a charm!!! Take care and I will pray that you will be free of your panic very very soon, and get in touch with your doc for a fast acting benzo (even low dose like I take are helpful) so that you can get over the anxiety hump that you are in.

Serenitee, if you notice the edit on your 1st post, I was only trying to adjust the margins of this thread...it has gone wide! I don't know why it sometimes does this. Did you do anything differently when you started the thread? I'm just curious, no big deal:) Hope you're doing well today!

I just wanted to let you know Serenitee, that you are not alone as these lovely people have already stated. I am going through the same thing myself right now and you are not alone!

They said some great things so I'll just *HUG* you and say, you are not alone and try their advice. They are wonderful people!
