Celexa

I was on Celexa for about a year and a half, and it worked well for me. It did not eliminate all of my anxiety, but my anxiety was a lot easier to deal with while I was on it. (In fact, I kinda wish I was still on it..) One thing I would note though, and this may not be the case for you, is that for the first week of taking it, I felt horrible! The anxiety was worse and I barely slept or ate and so on.. BUT I also think that I increased my dose too quickly. I think if I had gradually increased it to the 20mg, it would have been much better. And I did choose to stick out that week and the side effects soon went away and I started feeling better. I think it is also different for everyone because I know people who have taken Celexa and had no side effects at all. I hope I have not scared you away from it, because it really was helpful, I just want to be honest about my experience.

Just wanted to share my experience. I also have UC. I started celexa last december. I started on 10mg and ended at 40mg. It took about 8 weeks until I really felt like it was working for me, so I just wanted to say to be patient. The first couple of days on it I felt a little nauseous but other than that I had no side effects from it. It helped me alot. I was very depressed and had a lot of anxiety. The depression was helped alot, I still had some anxiety especially when on prednisone for the UC. I am now trying to wean off of the celexa because we are trying to get pregnant, I hope it works as well for you as it has for me but again you do need to be patient with antidepressants because they can take a few weeks to work.

I took both 10mg and 20mg of Celexa but it didn't work to me, I don't think you can question the drug on other people because every drug is different for every person! keep us all posted on how the drug works for you though :)
