3rd day on Anti-D, how long do side effects last?

Hey all,

Like I said, it's only my third day on Serdep 50mg. I have some stomach cramping, a little bit of a headache, and dry mouth. How long do these side effects last. It's not permanent is it?

Are the first few days the worst?

I have been badly anxious lately, hoping I'm doing the right thing by going on Antidepressants. I can handle the anxiety, but it's just not great having it present all the time. Will the meds take that edge off? Will I feel better?

Your advice will be appreciated.

Hi Darryl,

I have some experience taking anti-depressants (Paxil, Effexor and now Cymbalta). Some side effects (like increased anxiety and headaches) are temporary and usually go away after a couple of weeks. Other side-effects last as long as you are taking the drug. Everyone reacts differently to anti-depressants and what works for one person may not work for another. If after 2-6 weeks, you are still experiencing side-effects that you cannot live with - go back to your doctor, Serdep may not be the right med (or it may not be the right dose) for you. If the medication works, it will take the edge off; if it doesn't you may need to try a different medication or other methods to deal with the anxiety like relaxation techniques or CBT.
