Hi HN, I copied this for you, and yes I've had it too. You can be breathing improperly (hyperventilating) without even knowing it. I hope that this helps.
Hyperventilation syndrome is an episodic disorder that often presents with chest pain and a tingling sensation of the fingertips (paraesthesia) and around the mouth, as well as deep and labored breathing (causing hyperventilation), although chronic but subtle hyperventilation can cause these symptoms too.
Hyperventilation syndrome can be part of a panic attack but, despite all the stigma, most patients are not putting on a show but are in true distress. The hyperventilation is self-promulgating as carbon dioxide (CO2) levels fall and respiratory alkalosis (high blood pH) develop. The respiratory alkalosis leads to changes in the way the nervous system fires and leads to the paresthesia, dizziness, and perceptual changes that often accompany this condition.
A rapid traditional intervention is to have the patient breathe into a paper bag, causing rebreathing and restoration of CO2 levels. The same benefits can be obtained from deliberately slowing down the breathing rate by counting or looking at a watch -- often referred to as "7-11 breathing", where the inhalation is counted to 7 and the exhalation to 11. Some doctors do not advise the paper bag rebreathing method due to the possibility of inhaling too much carbon dioxide.

Yes, I have gotten this as well. I get buzzing sometimes in weird places, so much so I think I left my cell on vibrate, in my pocket because of it!! I also get the eye twitch too..so many strange things come with anxiety that is for sure.

Hello..I read your post and I also understand what its like to have that happen. I was in the e.r myself yesterday. I was feeling s little strange with some fatigue but that seems to be the norm for the last few months anyway. Then I felt very dizzy and was sure I was going to pass out. So I jumped up and started moving around thinking I could keep myself concious. My hands were cold and clammy, I felt too warm but started to shake very badly. My chest hurt and felt like every breath took huge effort. Very weak and couldn't walk straight. I have a history of pvc's and pac's so they really take off during panic. Bp was 201/117. It is the scariest thing that I can imagine every time it happens. I haven't found an effective way to deal with it even though its been happening since I was 25 and am now 43. I hate taking pills but in extreme cases like yesterday I took 1mg ativan and it seems to be the only thing that works. I know its habit forming but I can't take this anymore. I've had it with thinking that every day I might die. Most times I just lay there and pray and just accept my death that I'm sure will take place at any moment. Episodes like yesterday send me to the e.r. about
once a month. I'm tired, depressed and can't take much more. I feel resigned to it I suppose. There must be a way out and I feel so terrible for anyone who goes thru this. My heart issues give me anxiety even tho its supposedly not life threatening, it feels like it is which makes me panic which makes the palps worse which makes the panic worse and around and around we go. I hope that if it is anxiety that you and your doc can get it under control or at least manageable because in my case I feel like after so many years it has taken a toll. I am caring for my disabled son who is 20 now. I put on a happy face and at least once a day tell him I need to clean my bedroom so I can get through a panic attack without frightening him. I'm sorry..this post went on way too long. Guess I have never talked to anyone who goes through the same thing. Best wishes to you and a hug too..don't stop til you figure it out and don't let any of your concerns be dismissed..

Hi mayinCA and welcome! I am so sorry to hear of the horrible panic attacks that you are suffering! It is an awful thing to endure for so long. I am glad that you have found us however, and are able to finally talk about
it to people who understand what you are going through.
In your post you mentioned medication, which can be an effective part of anxiety recovery, but what about
any therapy? Many of here have been helped tremendously by it.
Even if you have tried it before in the past, there are advantages to revisiting it again. You may learn something new, or a new therapist could make the difference...or maybe you've reached a point in life where it will just click this time:) I can really recommend looking into it.
Keep posting here with us too! This is a great place for information, sharing and support.
Take care and talk to you soon,

i'm so sorry you are so stressed. taking care of a disable son has got to be stressful! i have an 18 yr old son and i couldn't imagine. do you work? are you married? do you have any emotional support? family close by?
the last few days i have had some pacs or pvcs and i have not been eating very well - too much sugar. so i know i need to eat better. it's so hard. i crave sugar. my gf wants to meet up tonight and i want to have a few drinks but afraid it will cause more pvcs. alcohol does that sometimes.
i have found that thinking positively and trying to tell myself i am ok - not giving in to the negative thinking -even tho it's hard helps. i just went for a walk and exercised last night. trying to get in better shape. it's supposed to burn adrenaline and boost seratonin. i'm now worn out though. ha just being active in life helps - do you have someone to help with your son so you can get out and have some "me" time. i know when i don't get it i freak. this is why i am sleep deprived. i'm a single mom of a 5 yr old too and i stay up on the computer when he goes to bed. never get enuf rest.
