anyone dealt with this? if so, how did you overcome it or make it go away?  i think the holidays bring it on for me!  too much stress with crowds, shopping, money, family etc.  pressure!

last week i had this drainage and strange breathing feeling - now this week same drainage (not sinus infection) just annoying allergy like drainage and my mouth is dry and i have to keep swallowing and feels like a lump in my throat.  the dryness is driving me nuts though.  i have been taking allegra which i know can cause this but felt like this before i started it.  ugh 

anyone relate?  i also take nexium.  read it could be a side affect of that also but low percentage. 

if i'm busy with my son i don't notice it nearly as much as being at work or sitting here on computer which makes me think it's mainly anxiety.  my brain needs to shut off and think about something else.  ha

I have never had this experience of not being able to swallow when I was anxious.  Have you called your doctor about it?   I know that it can be caused by physical conditions like GERD (gastro-esophogeal reflux disease). I believe GERD is one of your problems.

Yes I have been diagnosed with that a few years ago. For me, it was all nerves. Once you come to terms with that it gets better. Can be acid reflux too. My sister-in-law had the lump in the throat feeling until she started taking anti-acids and then her's cleared up.

i think it's allegies and not the gerd. a friedn of mine told me about her allergic reaction and her throat closing and sometimes when i hear stories of things happening to people, i think they can happen to me and i start having anxiety about it. ugh stupid iknow. i was taking nexium but i read about it could have a side affect of dry mouth.

this globus hystericus is a common anxiety complaint kitt. i went to ergent care once feeling the same way this same time of year and he mentioned it right away. something about this time of year.

Dear Hazel,

If you know your cause is anxiety related then pull out your bag of tricks to deal with anxiety.  Once the anxiety is back under control the globus hystericus  should fade away.

To clarify my first post, I did not say globus hystericus  was not a common problem for some people with anxiety,  I said "I have never had this experience".

Anxiety during the holidays along with depression is a real problem for many................I wish you well and remember to take things one day at a time.

yeah apparently my bag of tricks isn't working very well.  ha 

does anyone know the linden method?  it is soooo expensive!
