Hi Madhatter...love the screen name!
I am sorry that you have been having these fears. I think that it is common for spouses and parents who have a huge sense of responsibility to shoulder the burden of taking care of a family, without some stress.
Some of us just have an overabundance/sensitivity of it, or need to learn to manage it better.
Good job on getting into seeing the doctor and getting started on treatment with medication...did your doctor also recommend therapy?
Once one has gotten to a stronger place with the meds, it is good to look into therapy to learn how to deal with the anxiety and panic for the long term.
CBT is an effective and popular treatment, and can be highly recommended by many here, myself included. It helps you to change the negative/ fearful thinking that causes anxiety, into positive/productive thought processes.
If you would like to know more, feel free to ask questions anytime. This is a great place for support, information and sharing.
Post anytime!:)
