Just prescribed Ativan.. Any input on it will be helpful

Ativan is a benzodiazapine that is usually prescribed as needed for breakthrough anxiety and acute attacks. This class of medications typically have less side effects because of the short amount of time they are in the body. They can however be addictive, so you will want to be careful to just take this med when really needed.

Otherwise, I have heard great things about it. My step-dad used this when he was recovering from colon cancer surgery and felt like it was a 'wonder drug' for relief from anxiety and insomnia.

Madhatter, My name is Alexis known in here as Lexipoo I have had anxiety I was on ativan for years but found it has not help for my anxiety issue so I was put on Quetiapine 25mg a night before bed. It has helped me alot I have been taking for 6 months and I sleep well and don't wake up in the middle of the night with heart pain really bad and has brought my anxiety issues down alot Good Luck Hope the Ativan works for you.
