...and worthy of a new thread, I've surmised.
about half an hour ago I just got this weeeeiiiiiird feeling in my chest, almost like a series of subsequent palpitations and just this strange feeling in my upper chest for a good few minutes, I'm not even sure how to describe it. I've never had anything quite like that before. Of course, during this I also felt this intense need to burp, which I did several times (sorry, that's probably TMI!), and after a few minutes of this, I began to feel better. I was also coughing a little--feels like I've got some phlem or something in my throat.
It seems to have calmed down, but holy carp (spelling intentional) did that scare the **** outta me. All of this, as I understand it, can be GERD/reflux related, but I've never really had any history of reflux problems, save for the very rare heartburn throughout my life here and there. And, of course, since I've been having all this heart-related stuff going on, I panicked for a good few minutes, thinking something was really going wrong.
Once I calmed down for a moment, I took .5 mg of Xanax and called the cardiology office. They said that they didn't have my results yet, but assured me that if they'd seen anything serious, they'd have contacted me sooner.
One thing that I think may have contributed is that I had a cup of black tea this morning (I usually don't consume much caffeine at all), and a glazed donut (I usually also don't consume much sugar, starch, bread, etc). But man... could one event like this set off GERD or something of that nature in such a way?
That scared me soooo bad. I get that my anxiety causes an occasional palp and such, but that was completely new.
