Just started Prozac and inderal and I can't sleep

Just got prescribed Prozac and Inderal and can't sleep at all! Even with an Ativan I get no sleep. I have to wake up in 4 hours does this ever pass? Thanks

I am wondering what time of day you are taking your medications ?  From what I have learned, headache, nausea, and insomnia are the most commonly reported side effects of Prozac. Inderal can also cause
trouble sleeping. 

I am on Inderal and a AD in the same catergory as Prozac and I always take these medications in the morning. I have been on Inderal for many years for hypertension and truly never had problems sleeping from this med.

Hi MH,

I am sorry that you are having sleep problems lately. It is awful to be tired and just want to get a good night's sleep, only to keep waking up every few hours!

I would suspect the Prozac is causing the sleep disturbances. It is one of its known side-effects.

Some if it may be the anxiety as well however, especially if you had this problem previously to starting it.

Talk to your doctor if this doesn't improve soon. Your sleep is too important, and there are options that you two can discuss.

Between medication adjustments, and continuing to treat your anxiety, you should get back into a good, healthy sleeping pattern soon.

I am taking 40 mg of Prozac and 10 mg inderal In morning and 10 mg inderal at night. I think I'm just getting use to it hopefully. I slept better last night with a little help from my restoril. But overall I think it's getting better. Thanks for the comments and support!! Thanks

beta-blockers all have insomnia as a major side effect and propranolol may be the worst. it is great for stage-fright.
