Anybody else have Lyme disease and severe anxiety

 Just wondering if there was anyone else out there that has been diag with Lyme disease and has severe anxiety?? I have have anxiety problems my whole life but since being diag with Lyme a year and a half ago after being misdiagnosed for almost 6 years my anxiety and panic attacks have gone through the roof! Another problem is that I cant take antidepressants I have tried everyone on the market and im have had really bad side effects from them all they make my anxiety 10 times worse even after taking them for months! Just looking for some other Lymies that have bad anxiety and panic issues there are not many on the Lyme board!

Yup, there are a lot of us.

 Hate to send you to another board, because I use this one myself and it's excellent, but www.lymenet.org is excellent because you can click on search and type in a subject and you'll find tons of stuff on anxiety and lyme

Have you been tested for babesia and bartonella? They can cause anxiety.

Yes I am part of the lyme board and I have severe anxiety and I am told it is possibly related to lyme. I take zoloft now and xanax when needed :(

Hi JessMi, I don't have Lyme's, but I can't take anti-deps either (they also give me side effects and just plain don't work).  I take anti-anxiety meds instead and they really help with panic attacks.  I hope this helps, and please post here anytime about your anxiety..or anything really!

Hi JessMi,   I also do not have Lyme's disease but do have trouble with taking some anti-depressants because of the side effects, so I too have to be careful.  I take an anti-anxiety med and it works pretty well for me.  Have you tried posting on our Lyme Disease board to see what the members there may say?  Just a thought for you.   Keep posting and we will help you the best we can.   Take care, Wen

I am also a member of lymenet, its a great place! I dont get on much, as I dont have LD, but I was thought to have it. You can learn so much from the site! There are some very nice people on there... it has a ton of info! Im sure if you cant find what your looking for here then you can find it there!

(I also hate to send you to another site, but mutally, its great for people with LD!) I am a member of both so dont get me wrong! Good luck!

Yes I do have Lyme disease and extreme anxiety/panic. I also do not tolerate the meds well due to side effects. I am hoping once I get through some current health issues I can find a new doc and give some different meds a try. I can't give up - I have been in this house too long!!!

Hello all and I do not have Lyme Disease but I have anxiety and I can identify with your feels of anxiety.

I am so glad to see the great response here.  Nothing better then having  members that understand what your going through and where your coming from to talk with.

Another Lyme sufferer right here.

I too have had major anxiety since I was 19 (am 41 now) and was dx with lyme last year, but I've been sick for 14 yrs.

Anxiety and now depression are two of the biggest hurdles I face right now.
I had my anxiety perfectly under control until I relapsed last year and went on abx.

I'm a member of the lyme board here and at Lymenet.

hey jessMi i to have lyme disease i was diginosed when i was 9 yrs old i am 24 now. i had anxity growing up but when i was about 14 my anxity got worse and it continues to get worse and the only thing i found that works for me is a medications called ativan. i take that when i have a mager panic attack and it seems to help ease them. ik have also tried many meds and nothing seemed to work until i got put on ativan. so ik your not the only one with sever anxity
