I am new to this site... I am 33. I sometimes feel 80 though. I suffer from anxiety. For the past 2 years I have had stomache pain on the upper right and left side. I went to a g.i dr who told me it was my gallbladder. I have gone to the e.r. for the pain. They also have told me that it is my gallbladder. I went to my regular dr and he did blood work at my request I wanted make sure that it was not my pancras. Everytime the dr tells me something I google how they could be wrong. I have other symptoms at this point I am too scared to hear what they have to say. I will make dr apts and at the last scond I will cancel the apt. Everytime I feel anything I am on the computer googling what it could be. I think that I have thought I have had cancer in almost every part of my body. My family is soo done hearing about it. I will spend a weekend thinking about it. Right now I am googling pancratic cancer.... geez! I annoy myself! cry

Hi and welcome!

First off, take a deep breath, and step away from the mouse...no more google symptome searching. It only leads to run away anxiety...even people who don't have health anxiety issues can easily freak themselves out by searching medical sites!

Now, what was the conclusion on your gallbladder/stomach pain? Did you get an official diagnoses, and suggested treatment? That is where I would start.

Then the next step would be to discuss your other symptoms with your doctor and determine which ones can be attributed to anxiety.

Imagining that one is sick with some dreaded disease is pretty common with anxiety sufferers. If you did a search on this subject here in this forum, you would find more posts than you could read!

Many of us here have had relief through either medication, therapy or both. Again, your doctor could help you with a prescription and/or therapy referral.

Keep talking with us...we do understand and want to help and support you through this difficult time.

Make those appointments, and ask a trusted friend or family member to go with you. It will both give you comfort, and assure that you follow through! I have done this a few times myself!

Hi there realz, what you are experiencing sound's like you may be suffering from Health Anxiety. Here is a legitimate link with all the information on this anxiety disorder, what you are experiencing falls more under the 'Obsessive Compulsive Disorder' spectrum. There is so much help and support for what you are experiencing, and sometimes even just knowing what it is brings relief, rather than thinking you are losing the plot. I speak from experience ;) get to the doctors and discuss your thoughts, feelings and symptoms. <3

realz... you could of been almost telling my story. Ive thought over the last year and a half that Ive had every cancer and disease known to man. At times I cant breathe, which causes me anxiety. At times my pulse is elevated, which I am checking all the time. If I find that I have one symptom of any disease or cancer I just know that I have it. I am always asking my family if they are sure I'm not dying. Maybe we can find some way to help each other. Maybe by comparing symptoms or something. I am also one of Dr. Googles best patients.

I have been guilty of looking up my symptoms on the internet too. I have made myself quit that because it really freaked me out when I would search one symptom and there would be ten different things that could be wrong with you. My husband thinks I'm a hypocondriac because every little thing I feel I think I have something wrong with me.

I am sorry to hear that you are stuggling with these fears...you too mae!

I know how it is to feel this way. Talking about it helps, so it is great to be here where others understnad how you feel.

I also have gained so much recovery over this problem through therapy, CBT in particular.

If you have ever thought about looking into it for help, I would really urge you to do it!:)

How do you find someone who does CBT therapy?

You can ask your doctor for a referral..that is how I found my therapist. Most docors have a network of professionals that they can refer you to when needed.

You can also check with your insurance provider for someone qualified in your area. Most therapists are trained in CBT, as it is a pretty mainstream treatment and practice nowdays.

i know how u feel i have anexity too i hate it am young only going on 31
its horrible ... i got it now but am also insulin diabetic ive been to hostipals they send me home
tell me its a panic attack ... i get it over everything that seems wrong with me a few times i thoughti was having a heart attack we should talk more do u have fb??

Support groups have long offered companionship and information for people coping with diseases or disabilities, and online situationally oriented groups have expanded to offer support for members facing various life circumstances.  Welcome to HealingWell and the Anxiety and Panic Forum.
