Hi af,
How are you feeling now? I am sorry that you had a bad time of it last night! Yes, anxiety can certainly make you feel like you are going crrazy, or losing touch with reality.
To over simplify it...panic attacks seem to cause sufferers to fear one of two things...dying/suffering a physical episode/emergency, or losing their minds.
The effects of the 'Flight or Fight' response that is triggered during an attack cause these physical and mental feelings. They are ablsolutely real, and can be very frightening.
I hope that you are feeling better now. One thing that may help is to write down your recent experience in a journal. This way, if you have the same thing happen, you can read over your notes, and know that this will pass once again like it did before. You can remind yourself that it was a temporary (if horrible!) episode that did not have any lasting effects on your mental state!
Another thing I like to do is repeat a positive mantra when I am feeling anxious about
anxiety symptoms. (mine focus on the fear of something being physically wrong w/ me...but it's still the same idea) I repeat to myself:
"I am okay, it is only fear making me feel this way."
This reminds me that no matter how weird I may feel, that anxiety is responsible..and that it will pass. Give it a try, it's easy and it really does work!
I hope that you are feeling better today! Let us know how you are soon.:)

Poor you! I am feeling a little like this too at the moment.
I do ALL the above advice SC has offered and it really does help...
Right now I just feel 'out of it' as if I want to run away which really hurts me as I LOVE may family passionately and couldn't exist without them all..

to spill it all out into my journal!!!!!!! It's times like this that I fall into a depression mode!!!

Relationship problems often cause my anxiety to be kicked up too! It's funny, I am not shy, and have no problem speaking my mind, or being confrontational when it is necessary...but if I get in a conflict with a loved one/family member...I get so anxious and unsettled!
I hope that you and your fiancee have worked things out, and that you can pull out of your anxiety/depression cycle!!
Know that we are thinking of you and here for your support.:)

Oh, heck yes!! I've worked myself into a frenzy many a time!!!!
Call someone you trust and rant to them, or do something physical, like going for a walk/run/doing an exercise tape. You can get rid of the energy that way, too.
WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T DRINK COFFEE!!!
