It will be okay! I remember when my youngest went to kindergarten, six years ago! I also stayed home with her until that time...'homeschooling' her for pre-school. She was my constant companion, and I felt the same way...like I was just releasing her suddenly into the world.
With my oldest, I didn't remember feeling so sad, but I do remember that I bawled my eyes out the first day that I dropped her off at her highschool. I looked around and saw all of these huge adult-looking students, and nearly dragged her back into the car...she looked so young and small in comparison!
It is never easy...in fact, at my youngest daughter's school, they have what is called a 'Boo-Hoo Breakfast' for the moms (and dads) of kindergarten parents! It distracts them away from the classrooms, Lol!
Why not do something similar? Do you know any of the other kinder parents yet? If not, why not suggest getting some coffee with someone who seems to be similarly nervous after dropping off their child? Or if that is too bold a move...just call a friend and make plans to distract yourself that morning.
Once you see how much fun your daughter is having and that she is okay, you will be feeling much better. This is just one of those mommy rights of passages that you have to get through...stay strong for her!
Let us know how it goes soon!
