Futuredoc-
That is so terrific that you are looking towards medical school!! You should really be proud of yourself!!
I can only speak from personal experience- having had anxiety on and off for the last 15 years. Initially, when the panic attacks started, I was put on Zoloft and within weeks felt like my old self again. With medication, I have been able to keep the panic/anxiety out of my life, except when I experience "situational" anxiety. Anytime I am hit with a large amount of stress, the anxiety seems to reappear. Sounds like what you are experiencing right now, with waiting to hear from medical school. I can also tell you that once the anxiety hits me hard, each day it does get a little better. At first I am frustrated that the anxiety has returned, but then I get the courage/motivation to put one foot in front of the other and deal with the stress. The best thing for me is to keep busy, so that my mind is occupied. Remember that you have accomplished a tremendous amount thus far and follow your dream!!!
