PrincessConswela,Patient-centered therapy involves a therapist giving unconditional support, empathy, acceptance, and respect so the patient may feel empowered and capable of finding solutions to his or her own problems. It is based in research stating that a positive relationship between therapist and patient helps the patient become self-aware and self-reliant.
Cognitive-behavioral therapy is based on the ideas that our thoughts cause our feelings and behaviors, not externals things, like people, situations and events. The benefit of this fact is that we can change the way we think to feel/act better even if the situation does not change.
My therapists were supposedly using PC therapy as they do not offer CBT at my clinic. I did work the online CBT course and found it more suited to me but each of us is different.
