Hello, all,
Just want to inform you of a very unheard of nervous system disorder called Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS). I have it and was finally diagnosed last year after having six years of baffling issues and countless appointments. More than anything else throughout that time period, I was told I had anxiety, but I always knew that wasn't my problem. However, given how similar symptoms of both can be, I understand why there was such a long, confusing struggle.
I joined this site to try to help others and to spread awareness. I have seen several posts that contain questions of whether or not anxiety is the true underlying problem for some of you. Also, I have talked to many people with POTS who were either misdiagnosed or fooled into thinking they had anxiety/panic attacks when they really did not. If you feel in your heart that something about your diagnosis doesn't fit, please, I urge you to remain persistent until you find what you need. Proper treatment, for any illness, is important and can be extremely life-altering.
I won't go on and on, as I realize it is possible none of you have POTS. Just keep this information in mind, and feel free to message me with any questions, or just to chat.
Thank you, and best wishes to you all!
B
